Will switches/lnb`s remember settings

I just got back from a buddies place and hooked up his nfusion. All went well but it seems as though he had sats going into wrong ports but still worked somewhat.

I got him hooked up o.k with the sats he wanted but when i tried to get 119 on port 1 and 110 on port 2 even though on his last stb port 2 was for 148 the new set up wanted to stay on 148 on port 2.

Quality on 110 was good and when i checked out the switch it was hooked up where it should perfect - 119 on 1 - 110 on 2 - and 148 on 3.

I left him with 119 on 1 and 148 on 2 but i should have been able to get the ports to save for all 3 sats.

Sorry guys, long winded but any thoughts on the top question.

Thanks for any input on this.

Come on guys, someone like bobo - so dark - arb or many other knowledgeable folks here must have an opinion on why or how this can happen.

I am not trying to leave anyone out, you guys just leap to mind first.

Thanks

Re: Will switches/lnb`s remember settings

Sorry just noticed your post. You got me here. I'm thinking the stb isn't actually saving the antenna settings once you change them because the lnb and switch have no memory. Have you tried to use port 4 for anything I'm assuming you have an external switch. There is a chance maybe that one of the ports is blown and making the switch act weird. Is this the only stb hooked up to the dish? Sometimes bad grounds somewhere in the cable run can screw up a switch.

Thats for the reply buddy, i just thought just because it switches from 1 to 2 the external switch may not be good for all even though it picked up the signal when i looked on port 3.

The nfusion really hooked up easy though but it still seemed to want to remember the ports set on the vs extreme.

I have an extra chieta switch, maybe i will let it go and try it on his set. up.

Ya if that chieta doesn't solve the problem I'd be surprised. I've never seen anyone with this particular problem.
