two dishes, single pole
trying to mount two dishes on a single (fence) post. i've got one mounted on the post top, but not sure how to mount another dish below the existing. problem is, i can't do much with the elevation cuz the back of the dish hits the post.
is there a way to mount the dish further out from the post?

Re: two dishes, single pole
Use a square block of wood the width of the post as a spacer between the dish mount and the post. i.e., Screw the spacer to the post then, screw the dish mount to the spacer (thus solving your elevation issue).
Make sure the thickness of the block you elect to use provides enough distance or in your case 'elevation' to satisfy your needs. So if your post is 3.5" x 3.5" use a spacer made from the same material (but long enough to provide you with a solid mounting surface for the dish.

Re: two dishes, single pole
easiest way is to mount it above.....take a piece of pipe small enough to fit inside your current arm mount........(i used a piece of Rake Handle.....(the rake had broken) if it has too much wobble...****e duct tape to make it slightly thicker and a tighter fit.... this will extend the existing pole and allow a second dish
Please no Lude comments!! Its too easy on this post.....

Re: two dishes, single pole
run a 2x8 from one fence post to the next post,,near the top of them,,will give room to mount 6 dishes lol,,,3- #8x3" screws on each end of 2x8 to secure to the posts,,will give u extra strenght tieing the 2 posts together,,,,the mounting plate or plates will easily fit on the 2x8

Re: two dishes, single pole
Your solution is simple.....get a dish motor.... it may eliminate the need for a second dish.... as well.... it can be mounted mid pole, it is also adjustable for the thickness of a pole AND it will bring the dish it is attached to out by 8 or so inches giving you more clearance for elevation tilt.

Re: two dishes, single pole
here's the end result.
threaded rods worked really well rather than u-bolts. their malleability made it easy to tighten the bolts for a nice snug fit around the pole.
