Using an old 80GB Maxtor hard drive on mine, works pretty good other than the odd audio/video sync problems. It's an easy unit to setup and use once you have the drive installed and formatted.
The few problems I still run into are with the recording side of it. Sometimes it misses the record time for some reason, and after all the December Bev ECMs the recording was spotty at best, I think due to the time it took to roll when changing channels. Charlie has never been a problem. Another small problem is when you want to extend the record time of a show already recording, it doesn't stop recording when you want, it always goes for a 3hr record time.
As for recording features, a few things I would like to see is the ability for the recordings to have the guide info saved with the files. Another thing is with the dual tuners, an option to combine both tuners so that there is no need to switch between tuners when recording multiple shows at the same time.
Overall though I'm extremely pleased with the box, and support.
Arboristman, is the Sonicview team wondering about new features for their new box, or are they thinking of improving the PVR1000?
