I am in the Sticks and only have Dial Up net access , I find almost always the Page Loading Time here on the site is Slow at Best . My Speed is 45.2 Kbs , Yes Slow .
There are times to where I have to wait 2-3 Min's for a page to load . The whole system seems to just stand still & with a 3.4 Gig processor that is slow .
Any Ideas as to why ??? Can it maybe be a Loose Nut behind the Keyboard ???

I'm on broadband using Firefox and each page loads fast enough. Problem is, it loads twice!

I use dial up and I don't have more than a 10 second wait on each page. When was the last time you did a defrag on your hard drive, or a virus scan ?

Mountaineer , I do a Virus Update and Scan daily , Also I defrag at least every 7-10 days and usually it is not needed but I do it anyway .
I definitely think it is something on this site that slows things down , as it took approx 1 1/2 Min's for the posting page to load after I clicked on Post a Reply .
Currently there is approx 60 or so people on the site . I wonder if it isn't the ebay add at the top-o-the page , trying to install cookies on my system .
I also use Firefox , but once you are on this site Firefox makes no difference , And Yes Broadband makes a Big difference , Ti's just when the only choice you have is Dial Up , One must make do with what is available ,,,

Well, I'm up to date on virus scans/defrags fo' sho'. I check out this site on two different computers, a three year old desktop and a smokin' brand new laptop with 2 gigs of ram. The pages here load twice on both. Latest build of the 'fox, etc.

Tirconnell, I have same problem as you, 45.2 speed. I blame it on the server because my puter almost stops, if I go off line and immediately go back on line it is a lot faster. As soon as I go on line, I can tell how things are going to go, I talked to the server and there is nothing wrong with their equip. Oh-well, put up with what I got.

Well Guy's eBay's cookies definitely slow the system down . And most-o-the time the page has to load 3-4 times before it pops up . And I am sure people out there with High Speed or cable have no problem with pages loading .
But Us with Dial Up are still in the dark ages . Maybe , Just Maybe , One-O-The Moderators will read this and put up a " What Net Connection do You Have " poll .
Be interesting to see the numbers of Dial Up users ,,,

I have dial up also.
My best speed is 49,333...which is a lot better than 45,200.
I might have to connect 10 times to get this speed.
I won't use any less...so I dump it & try again.
This has nothing to do with this site.
Also, it makes no difference about how many people are on this site at once.
I recommend you turn ON the pop up blocker for this site.
That will stop eBay & all others.
It will let the page load faster.
Another thing to try is clean out your history / cache / set cookies to dump after 1 week.

Thanks Sat-Junkie ,
I do clear the history and cache often . And the site seems to load a bit quicker with the Pop Up Blocker turned off . I am now connected at 44.0 , Slow Dial Up ,,,

It's not clear to me what you meant about "I'll work on this".
Does this mean you are working on the site loading faster?
Or, does this mean you are going to setup a poll so we can talk about how slow it is?

Sorry man. I was serious. I just didn't quite word it like I should have. That was a bit on the sarcasm side...it's all good...relax, I like you man...
Please accept my apology. SJ
