problem jTagging the pansat3500

recieved new jtag cable.trying to jtag cable is plugged in and ready.i get a communications error sayingError,com 1 does not exist. cannot enable Bi-directional communication.anyone have any ideas?

Did You try different com port selections? you may have a defective cable too.

In order for the jtag to work you must use not com 1 use lpt printer port, check if your jtag cable have the 5 100 ohm resistors there are some cases that when you buy a jtag dont come with it so check it to be shure , also if you have a multimeter check if the numbers from the db25 conector correspond to the numbers of the db 20 conector. If still having problems we will be glad to help

that is right go to preferences and change it to paralle not com1 otherwise it won't read it .

My Jtag cable does not have any resistors on it & it worked fine the only thing is that it is 9 inches long tight fit & yes you do use the parallel port not com 1 , I did have a problem my home pc could not open the parallel port on my second attempt so i used the pc at work to Jtag it which took 5 or 6 mins & when you load the flash file use 3500S - Flash 1(29LV160CBTC-70) B-80 - Full so u do not have to load B80

For the cable to work better it needs the 5 resistors and no longer than 6 inches beyond that it might give you errors, that's why is better to have and db25 male-female extention that way you can work better with your stb and pci hope ypu could fix it good luck.
