Tech Support
I just signed up/paid for Tech Support with PayPal ($99 for a year) but when I click on the Tech Support, it says I am not authorized to create tickets?

Oh poo! I just checked paypal and didn't have enough in my balance so they did an eCheck! Which will take time to clear. So that answers the question. But it isn't obvious if you don't catch that when paying as you get a note from there saying Thanks for subscribing and it looks like you are good to go.

That's really nice of you to offer. I'm just kind of dumb about all this so am kind of embarassed to be asking my dumb questions in public, plus most of them would probably be wasting other's time. So that's why I signed up for the Tech Support so I could get my basic questions answered off the forum, then when I know more I could ask intelligent questions to the "group." I have a lot of stuff including that LNB and 2 dishes (500 and directv). I used to be a TV@home customer. I THINK I just need a receiver. Just need someone to put all the pieces together for me... I'm not technical and am having a hard time grasping all the concepts. So thought my best route right now was to pay for support rather than bother people.

Brother, don't worry about asking any kind of dumb question on this site. We all had to start somewhere. You will not get any smart remarks toward any kind of question you ask. We are here to help with any kind of question, dumb ones and smart ones. Hey! I been doing this stuff for two years now and I still ask some dumb questions. You can be sure that people like, Grasshopper, New To Tv, Carpenter 1, and some of the more experienced people will gladly help you. I look forward to helping you however I can. We all are FTA addicted here and love to have fun, occassionally will pick a little, all in good fun. Hope this puts you at ease...

Welcome to our world and the only dumb question is the one you are afraid to ask and don't. We are here to help in any way we can and no one I mean no one will think any less of anyone here for asking a question. We have our rules and one is no bashing of other members, this is one of the rules we have no leniency on. We have the best members from around on this site and they are respectful toward others.
Now as to what you need to get started.
Go to our sponsors on top (FTAPros) and buy yourself a Viewsat Ultra or a Visionsat 200 PVR, these are very nice receivers and the Viewsat has been around for a long time with great support. The Visionsat is a new receiver but has some old support behind it and we need to see how well it truly is supported when we get hit again.
The dish500 Is a perfect dish but we need to know what type of LNB's you have with it. Are the a large LNB with 2 eyes on it or 2 small LNB's with one eye on each?

One good thing about FTA questions is there seems to be no dumb question to be asked. What might seem to be dumb for one is an eye opener to another. We are all here to help one another in our own unique way!

Two I suppose but covered by one white lens. Inside (facing the dish), under the lens caps it has the "Made in Japan" at the top, then the Dish logo, then "Digital LNBF" under that. Part number starts with a B.. On the outside back is the Dish logo. I took a look on eBay and looks like some of the ones that look like mine have Dish PRO but mine just has the DishNetwork logo on the back.

OK it's a Legacy and that's fine with what you will use it for.
All you need is to order a receiver.

BTW... I have another post open under Chit Chat... title - PC an receiver - I just opened this one about the registration problem I was having. So I'll post the above on the LNBF and also what receiver I just got on that PC an Receiver thread under Chit Chat so we can close this one out. I think this category is just for help on registration. Thanks!

Carpenter, did you know that the 1, 2, 3 links in your post come up with page not found. Is that because my Tech Support membership hasn't gone thru yet and you need to be an advanced member with paid support to get to those links?

OK, I got my Captiveworks 600. I looked and saw a sticky on how to set it up but the files mentioned came up file not found. I signed up for tech support last week. So I tried going that route. I pressed Send new ticket and got a subject and title line... filled them out with my questions and submitted the thread. msg came back I needed a category, but there was no place to enter a category. How do I get a question in the Tech Support section???

Tech support
Thanks, I'll try those tonight. But how do I enter questions in on the Tech Support Tab? I paid extra to have access to the special Tech support but I can't seem to enter questions there. Is there some trick to entering questions there?
