It's not that bad, if you have a laptop you can just live the cable plugged at the back all the time and access it with you laptop and USB-to-serial adapter, that's what I do and I guess I am used to it.
As for the CW800pvr, it's a great unit, in fact all 600regular/600premium/700/800 are really good units. The 600regualr is old by now and it's a little bit slower then the others and it's has less built in features, but the support for the unit it's still there, just like it is for the other. So you'll be happy with the fast releases.
The 700 and 800pvr are both very similar infact the only thing different about them is that the 800 has PVR support and the 700 doesn't. However they both have USB loading capability.
