Super newbie here....
I just have a quick question. I have a new Viewsat Ultra 2000 receiver and I just got my dish 500 today. I mounted it at the side of my house and fired up my receiver to point dish.
My previous sat. experience was with Dishnet & Direct.
With the old receivers they use to give a "tone" when you were aiming them in.
I went to my set-up section and there is no tone???
I use to crank my speakers up connected to the TV and open my windows when I aimed with old receivers.
How do you know if you hitting a bird outside with no tone on a VSU2000 receiver?????
get a sat finder-20 bucks or less, better then the receiever finder neways. or, use the method that i did when i left my satfinder out in the rain and it started making dying animal noises, call your buddy or gf and have them stare at the bar while you adjust it. the latter is a good option and a usefull tools to have
Yea alot of the FTA receivers have no tone. You can get a tone sat meter for $10 easy on fleabay or get a cheap 3or 4 inch LCD TV with an antenna connector or video inputs. Thats what I use. I loop the carrying strap around the mast and feed it from STB. That way I can see the signal for myself while tuning.
