how do I use loader 2 or null cable - ABA DSS

a few weeks ago I downloaded a new fix and my receiver froze on ( do not power off ) but I shut it down cause it wouldn't do anything. now the usb will not work and all I have on my receiver is 4 dashes ---- and I can't get it to work. is there a fix for this. I was told to use loader 2, null cable, but I have no idea how to do this, can anyone help me please. very frustrated. bought this unit in Dec. got to watch it for 2 days, and not worked since.

here is the loadr 2 you will need the cable that came with the ultra then you hook up to your computer ..

next you have to unzip all the files and loader 2 make a folder to put it all into here is a unzipping program called winrar

once you install win rar right click on the files loader 2 and the newest BIN then left click on exctract here and the files will be there in the folder

ok you will need to be a member here to download this stuff ..

but anyways here is how to load the viewsat

once you have done what i said in the top unhook the viewsat extreme from the tv take to your computer and then hook the viewsat up to the computer via the null able( the one you got with the reciever) then plug it in and turn off in the back .. ok once you have it all hooked up then go to the folder that has all the files you will see loader 2 double click and it will open then on the left you will see open files click on that and browse to the file called Attached Files highlight it and click open it will go into the main software at the top .. then once you do that click the middlie button that says pc to STB and you will see a pop up saying sending once you see that then turn on the reciever in the backDO NOT TOUCH it will load and then once it is done it will say inst then end then boot 0000 end do not shut off until you see a channel or the fron of the reciever say 0001 anf the you can shut off in the rear close all on the computer hook back up and get ready to watch tv ..

i have to use a usb to serial cable and i can't seem to get it to work. can you please help me.i have the viewsat extreme receiver. everything is fine with the loader , the bin number is fine but when i hook it up to the receiver to download it won't work.

I think you may have given the wrong file.
Nettip mentiones a usb the extremne doesn't have one I think he has an Ultra

If I understand properly your computer does not have a serial port.

Ok, I've been asked numerous times, how to "Fix" a Viewsat Ulta that displays ---- on the front panel. This usually is as the result of a bad upload or a power interruption during an upload.

Here for your reading pleasure, I've outlined the 'solution'.

First off you need to get the following things:

1) A copy of VSU Fail Fix
2) A copy of Loader2
3) Your serial (Null) cable that came with your unit.

This solution also assumes that your Receiver is UNABLE to read from /or recognize your USB stick.

Ok, here we go:

Install Loader2 on your PC then:

• Connect serial cable (NULL) to PC>STB
• Open up Loader of choice (PVR-Loader 1.1 or Loader2)
• Click on Tool>Configuration>Com port (Default is usualy com 1)
• Click on Open File
• Click on PC>STB (Notice the progression bar in loader)
• Turn the power in the back ON
• Wait for Loader say Completed. Then on box LCD front panel screen say I.N.S.T>END>0000 or until clock count to 0.001

IT IS VERRY IMPORTANT. DO NOT TURN THE POWER OFF TO SOON
• Turn the power OFF in front and power OFF in back
• After downloading the “BIN”, unhook NULL cable from PC>STB
• Connect all the cables to your box/TV
• Turn the power ON in the back and then front
• Press Menu key
• Select Installation and press OK
• Select Antenna Setup and press OK
• Select your Sat.
• Here if you have a DISEqC switch enter the port #, Motor or Legacy SW
• No LNB Type need to select (from new, you have only two selection Standard and Universal). STB will select your LNB Automatic
• Press Exit and select Yes for saving the settings
• Your back to Antenna Setup screen
• Here you have Three choices:
1. Channel Scan
2. Auto Scan
3. Blind Scan
• Select Auto Scan
• Press OK
• You are in the Auto Scan window and you see the Bird(Sat.) you selected and on the top of your screen are three options:
1. Search option
2. Network search
3. Scan Start
• You don’t change nothing here, go down and select Scan Start and press OK
• You do this for all the Birds (Sat.) you have
• Wait for Autoroll and then sit back relax and watch TV !
