is this how its going to be from now on?
hello all , i'm almost at the point where my passion for this hobby has reach frustation to the point i'm ready to check out. i've only been in the game for a yr or so but these last 6 mths have sucked. since i'm fairly new i thought i'd ask you guys who have been at it for alot longer than i. do you feel this is how its going to be from now on? only 2, 3 days a fix lasts now? i hear that the full emu is coming and should help but when ? when and if it comes how long are fixes expected to last then? please understand not complaining at all we had a good run for awhile and its all because of the hard work by the coders!!!! just really frustraiting when they seem to be zapping fixes in a day or so it seems that they're getting the system figured out and getting better at shutting us down. anybody else have any opinions simular to mine? i know its always been and going to be a battle back and forth on who gets the upper hand but seems that there has been a major, major shift of power and it hasn't been us . once again please understand not bin begging , not complaining , all the super long hrs and hard work by the coders are the only reason we get to enjoy this great programming and a simple thank you isn't enough, just wondering if our great run is over .

Hey
![]() There is an alternative to the situation you describe. There has been for months now, namely nFusion and Neosat. While IKS is new to North America other countries have been using it for some time now. If up time is what you seek, there's your answer. Creative Genius Quote:

And yet all I have to say is that for what people watch it pays for it self, also get a sub which helps when it goes down, and get more then one machine like the nfusion (even when it all goes down) it doesn't last as long right now.

Re: is this how its going to be from now on?
that's exactly the point where charly wants to take us including the coders too, like you said this a hoby and a hoby is for entertaiment, don't give up and just keep on testing as a an extra for entertaiment: the past don't exist, and the future is uncertain,is all a big precent, and nothing else!....enjoy

do not despair, in the end you said it, it is a hobby. Think of what it would have cost you if you had to pay for all that programming, and if you still want to give it up it is your choice

Re: is this how its going to be from now on?
that is why in the meantime I have a sub too... I have a friend who has an old DN receiver, the ones that uses a card instead of a usb , and his works perfectly, it hardly goes down, and that is because I believe DN attacks new and upgraded stbs and hardly pays attention to the old ones...I want to try to get one of those old receivers and try it out..

i'm glad most of you (not all) took it as a question and not a complaint. i realize the investment has paid for itself 50 times over but still doesn't help with aggravations sometimes.

i love this, testing is fun, i try different switches, i try differnt boxes, i try mixing boxes, you have to love what you do. if you like tv so much you would not be on the computer so much, you would be watching tv and you would be paying for it. aggie

Re: is this how its going to be from now on?
Well I am reading all these comments and wondering why people are frustrated!! When we bought our STBs and get in to FTA hoby or whatever you may call it, we all knew that this was a FREE for ALL deal.
There were times we were down almost three mos. and there were times we were down couple of weeks or couple of days , hours etc etc. Charlie like any other business does not like that some one is capturing its signals and using it free for charge; now I can understand that actually they are more frustrated than US. Lately they are at great expenses, are changing their ECMs every for or five days, now we all know that it coast money,,, and I believe that they will continue with this trent as long as it takes! What they do not want to admit is, We the Free Spiritied FTA Freaks will be here as long as their Signals drop on our Residences... So lets take it easy; tomorrow or after we will have a New Bin, we will watch to Charlie's dismay Free TV, until they change the ECM and so on........another word Fellow Members the Game will go on and on...but remember this, we only leass than two hundered dollars for out STBs, but they keep paying thousands to keep up with us. Hurray for the CODERS, keep up the good work Gents. Spacecowboy

Funny you mention IKS. I noticed the Neo's were up pretty quick as of late so I started reading. Any links to post on IKS would be great. I'm now looking for a true PVR (two tuner). I think Neo started one and then went back to a single before production. I'm kind of hooked on the ease of USB upgrades but if the IKS module makes that a thing of the past, I'm good with that also. I need a little more info on how the IKS mod gets added to my network, how it works but like the idea. The Dreamboxes seem to dodge the bullet quite often also. |

Re: is this how its going to be from now on?
I was am frustrated but like mentioned earlier.......You watch 2 or 3 movies or a ppv it pays for it self even if it is down for a couple weeks. And at least we're our moneys worth out of our internet bill per month lol. My solution, pay for minimum subscription for cable or satelite and use fta when it works. And by the way....THANK YOU to all the site helpers, administrators, and everyone on this site for all of the help,,,,,I've learnt ALOT.

Re: is this how its going to be from now on?
This is exactly what the sat providers want. They want people to get fed up and quit so that they can charge you when you subscribe. Think about it, I suggest we all stay calm and wait.
