The top one doesn't have the serial # on the sticker , So that is how you can spot that it is a fake. If it did have the # on the sticker it would be a real pansat.

I have two that matches the real photo and it fried one using bin 251. I'm holding on to the second one until this problem is well straighten out. There maybe more than one characteristics of clone units. One might be that the outside is exactly the same but the internal components may have been clone, probably the ROM

Ok,That picture shows one way to recognize a real pansat, it doen't mean that it is the only way.I just showed the picture to give you one more way.I know that are some receivers that have the original sticker and are clones as well, but just some of them. When the new bin for N2 came, everybody knows that if somebody was not sure about the receiver(clone or real) had to wait for updates, many people couldn't wait, installed the bin and fried the box. When I came back this week,I had not time to read all the information about the new bin for each receiver, and installed the bin just on that receivers that I was sure were real.Once I finished with them,I started with those that I was not sure, and installed the 253 instead off 251 and they worked. But was at my own risk.Even I have 3 fortecs that I'm not sure if they are real, and I still thinking about install the bin.By the way, the picture helps, if somebody doesn't agree, it is OK, it is up to you take it in consideration.

I know of a Pansat 2500a that looks like the fake in the picture, has a greenish cast to it, no heat sink, no serial # or manufacture date. Basically, it fails about all the tests yet it is running the 251 fine. Mine on the other hand has the screen printed UL and Caution on the metal back, no paper tag, has the manufacture date, serial number on the IRD and the box, is Sony Silver, heat sink, jtag connector (not just the solder points on the board) etc. In other words, passes all the tests to be genuine, yet died in 10 minutes. So, is there a solid test for real or clone? I sure wish I could find one.
