CANNOT PICK UP 119" CHANNEL ANYMORE

Hi, for some reason my 119 station cannot pick anymoe. I was able to see all the 110 channel. Here is what I have

DISH: DISK NETWORK 500 LEGACY QUAD
DISEQ SWITCH: 2 diseq swicth that going out to 110 on LNB1 and 119 LNB2
Receiver pansat 2500A : diiseq #1 for 110 and 119 #2
SIGNAL, I got 90% on the 110. I had tried connecting directly to the 119 but it there so signal. I also have another dish legacy and tried on the 119 but for some reason it cannot pick up signal. It is weird if I go set my receiver on the 110 and 119 on both the diseq swith number #2 it got signal but the 119 stilll doesn't work. The 110 it work. So what did I done wrong? IT cannot be the dish itself since I have 2 legacy dish which still the same issue. Any expurt can assist me on this? Thank! Timmy

Wink

A legacy quad is no good for pansat. It has a built in sw21 switch. Change to a dishpro.

Good dish

First try swapping your LNB`s and see if one is bad. Also see that the cable ends are good,no water damage or rust. See that the correct freq. is set in installation [11250] 22kHz is off, DiSEqC is to the right settings #1 and #2 and LNB type is standard. If so it seams that you need to realine your dish.Take your reciever out to the dish with a small TV if you have one, it is a lot easier that way. Another thing is you need to be sute your dish has the right tilt angle set Most of the time when you don`t pick up a sat your not on it. See if any of this helps. Bogus

Bogus, thanx for the info. Actually I have done swaping another Quad LNB that had 110 and 119. The result still no signal on 119. I can see the strengh is 75% but quality is 0%. On the receiver 22khz I tried leave it off/on but still the same issue. The 11250 is already set as default. The elavation I set to 46" . and the other one call the skew is on 75". The screw range from 30 to 140. I tried moving around too but overall the signal only goes to 75". So all those setting are correct. I went and check the caculation for the satellite it say:

lattitute: 37 ( I am not sure where do I set this at)
longitude: 1224.4 ( Is this called Skew)
elvation: 46.1 ( I already set this up)
Azimuth: 174.5 ( I dont see any number like this on my dish)
Skew: -4.4 (this one am confuse how come my skew range from 40-140.

can you tell me what did i do wrong? Thank for the help!

Timmy

Dish

When you say quad LNB is it the LNB that is 2 built into one? Longitude and lattitude don`t get set nowhere it is where you are. Azimuth is the degrees from due north on a compass going clockwise with south being 180 degrees.Skew needs to be turned off these dishes don`t have a skew motor. Your quad LNB if you don`t have 2 seperate LNB`s that is most likely your problem even if it worked before. Bogus

this is the exact dish I have. I guess it call legacy because each piece had 2lnb on 110 and 119 that total of 4. Yes on the receiver the skew already turn off. I just bought a differnet RCA R-6 cable but still the same problem.

Smile Make sure pointing is correct

mrtimmy,

From the picture you posted, looks like you have a TWIN lnb, which should work if you are pointing correctly.

The signal level is only an indication of the connection between the receiver and the LNB, has nothing to do with signal from satellite.

Quality indicates what the receiver is seeing from the satellite. If your quality is 0%, this means that the receiver is not seeing any signal from the satellite.

First, make sure you are pointing correct. What is your zip? Someone can verify your Az/El settings to make sure you are pointing correcly. D$sh has a program that you can download from their website that calculates your Az/El for a zip. Or post zip and you can get the Az/El, which are the only two numbers you need to worry about.

Use a compass to point the dish to the correct Azimuth. If your mast is perfectly level, you can use the readings on the dish to set your elevation. If you still are not sure, go to www.emantechnology.com and click on the "look angle" link on the bottom left. This link will calculate the Az and El for your city and show you in pictures how to adjust the Azimuth and Elevation for good pointing.

Hope this helps!!

hi thanx for the info. My zip code is 95111 santa clara, CA . But am kind of confuse under choose satellite it had few option like:

directv1: 110
echo star 5: 110

and for 119 it had a few satellite to choose. which one do I choose if I have a dish network?

Also, since I got 110 to work already, do I need to point to 119 than? The tricky part it will loose my 110 station right if I point to 119? I thought my dish should point either station it should pick up both station. I am still little bit confuse. Thank!

mrtimmy,

The following should be your pointing.

For 110 - Az = 144, El = 44.4

For 119 - Az = 160, El = 46.6

BUT since you have D$h 500 with twin LNB, you have to point at the mid point of 110 and 119 which is

For 110/119 twin LNB - Az = 152, El = 46

I verified that this agrees with D$h recommendation on their website for your zip.

This pointing takes into account that the two LNBs can receive signals from both the 110 & 119. Looks like you were pointing closer to 119 than to 110. Are you sure you are getting the channels from 110? Because if you were pointing at Az 172 as you stated in your post, you would be closer to 119 and should be picking up channels from 119.

Once you get the right pointing, connect the LNBs directly to the receiver one at a time without any switches. Check the level and quality. Re-adjust pointing to peak the quality level for both 119 and 110. Then introduce the switch.

Hope this new pointing will fix your problem.

Jpeterson , thanx for the info. I had look on my elvation again is set to 46. I got signal 99% on 110. I had tested the LNB by swaping to the left LNB and both all good. The part that tricky it seem to work only for the left LNB which display 119. But in the receiver when I check Echo6,8@110 it got 99% and 119 99% but no picture. It seem only work for 110. But the LNB on the dish say 119. So I browse through my channel but was able to view only 110.

Next thing, what I have done I tried conect to the right LNB that say 110. But for some reason, I don't get any signal at all 110 or 119. Than I tried to swap another LNB but still no signal. IT seem the one that hold the LNB on the right is not picking any station. The one on the left LNB that where you place the lnb in it, that one seem to work. That mean the unit that hold the LNB is bad? It kind of strange if it is bad just a holder only. But the werid part I can only see 110 channel. This is very tricky. So what could this be?

elevatoin

I think your problem is still in the pointing of the dish. I install dishes for a living and the 46 elevation and the azmith is just a place to start. Plus your mount where the dish slides on must be plum in order for the elevation to be even close. Try seting up at the dish and don`t be afraid to move your settings a little at a time. Move your elevation a little and swing your dish a little and stop for a few seconds and let the signal meter catch up. If you have a signal meter that is standalone that is better. If you keep at it you will get it. Bogus

If you are getting 110 on the right lnb, you are pointing wrong. The right lnb is for 119. From left to right in the sky you will see 110 then 119. If you get 110 on the right lnb you still have to keep going to get 119. That is why you are getting 110 on righ and nothing on the left. Hook up the 119 lnb only. It will say it on the Y connector where the lnb's connect to dish. From the 110, 119 will be to the right about an inch and down about an inch. When you get 119 with good signal, skew the dish to you skew #, 110 will be there on the left lnb. Use an old dish receiver, It will tell you what sat you are looking at.
