adding a splitter

I am trying to add a splitter to my dp500 dish, so I can have a box in my garage. When I hook it up, I have no signal on my reciever. Do I need to add a power booster to each line ? I am using a standard DP 500 dual Lnb, with a pansat 2500. Thanx

You need an LNB with 2 outlets in another words a dual LNB and then you will need a switch to be able to use both boxes.
