Pansat 2300/2500/3500s Set-up Made Easy
What you will need:
A) Most recent X-75 BIN for 2300's or X-85 BIN for 2500's (refer to files section).
B) STB_gTools for loading the channel list (refer to files section).
C) Flashing/downloading utility (refer to files section).
D) RS-232C compliant DB9 (9 pin) straight through female to female cable (not a crossover cable, or null modem). You can also simply add a "gender changer" to one end of a regular male to female RS-232 DB9 cable.
E) and of course a Pansat 2300A or 2500A receiver
Directions:
1) Plug one end of the RS-232C cable into the back of IRD, and the other end in to your computer COM 1 serial port.
2) Open the flashing utility and load the "X-75/X-85.bin" file. Select "Flash ROM file". For STB Model enter "key:global" (without the quotes, of course). Select COM1, or whatever COM you have the cable attached to. Select a baud rate of 115200. Please note that you may also use the newer Blacklist Updater. Many of the above selections are preprogrammed, and will not be visible.
3) Click "Download," and allow it to finish. There is no need for a boot file with the X-75 or X-85 flashes.
4) You can either do a channel scan (after you hook up the receiver to the LNB) or download a channel list. If you are loading a channel list, and the file is in .gtd format, then use STB_gTools. (To use STB_gTools: open gTools.exe and select dish500.gtd (or whatever channel list you wish to upload), right click on sats on the left side of the screen, Choose Tools, STB connect, select your port and download the channel file to the receiver). If the channel list file is in .bin format then simply use the flashing/downloading utility you grabbed from Pansat.
5) Hook up the Pansat receiver to the LNB and turn your receiver on. Go to the main Menu and select "Set Up." Select "English" as the language and exit the menu.
6) Select "Antenna Setup," and choose the satellite you want to view. The LNB type is Standard and LO=11250MHz for DBS satellites; LNB type is standard LO=10750MHz for FTA satellites. Echo 1-9 and AMC2 are D*sh, Echo1-8 use DBS LNB).
7) Next go to the menu and select "Parental Controls" (Use "0000" for all of the PIN numbers).
8) After you type in 0000 for the second PIN, you will be taken to a menu where you will see "set default key". Select this and hot OK. There is no need to enter the keys since they are already in the most recent X-75/X-85 flashes.
9) Click the exit button and watch TV. If you aren't getting the proper channels then make sure your DiSEQc is setup properly in the menu, and also be sure to delete any satellites that you aren't pointed at from your channel guide.
