Go to Menu/System settings/A/V settings, arrow down to component output, right arrow to change to s-video...

Re: Testing Sonicview 4000
Hey Everyone. These maybe dumb questions for many of you but I'm a newbie to this whole FTA scene, so please be kind. My first question, can I use the Sonicview 4000 on my existing setup of Dish network dishes? I'm a current customer of DishNetwork and have two satellites set up getting 61.5, 110, and 121.
Second I know that I have the right to use my own equipment so do I need to get permission of dish network to use Sonicview 4000? and will I need a smart card like I currently use with my dish receivers?
And last I've done my research and find Sonicview to have excellent ratings and is highly recommended. But I'm also aware that there is a new model coming out Sonicview 360 elite in a about 10 days. SV 360 is an entry model of entirely new series with PVR capabilities so Should I wait for the new model or just buy SV 4000?
Thanks in advance for all your help everyone.
P.S. This forum/site is pretty informative to newbies like myself. Great Work!!

Re: Testing Sonicview 4000
If you want to use the existing dish, just go ahead, just don't tell Dik you are doing it. They would probably get pretty upset and then nasty. You can use the dish with the SV-4000 and still keep your sub. You don't need a smart card for the SV-4000, just load the latest bin in your SV. The SV-360 that is coming out sounds like it's going to be another great SV product. The SV-4000 is not a HD unit, so, if HD is what you want, I would wait. There are several of us that are waiting on it's release. I am not sure if the new 360 will require the 8psk module to get Dik net or not, It is not clear yet whether the 360 has the 8psk board already installed...

Re: Testing Sonicview 4000
I am a newbie and just bought the SV4000 and have a 36" dish. I am trying to pick off Galaxy 10R at 123W and the strength shows 65 but quality 0.
I am not sure if I have the box setup right or the dish is not pointed exactly where it should be.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

JC has already covered your questions.
But I will add to that and say..."if I were you", I would cancel the sub & go turn in the boxes. (tell 'em you got cable) They don't want their dish equipment...so then I would hook up my FTA unit(s).
Why pay for what is free now?
It would be illegal to use Charlie's equipment (cards or receivers) but FTA is not his & hey...he threw away the dishes when you droped the sub...so you might as well use 'em.
And if you can't sleep at night (using his dish) then buy one a ebay...now you own one.
It's still the same dish...

Re: Testing Sonicview 4000
Hi that happened to me before after I followed somebody's forum to clean the duplicate channels by doing delete channels thru Satellite. Do a BLIND scan maybe 2-3 times and you will get back all the channels you want, incl PPV's & VOD's.

When selecting channels with the SV4000...always use the EPG button to pull up the guide...then select the channel you want with the OK button.
If you just enter the channel number...you will get the message you saw..."waiting for update".
As far as the "no or bad signal"...it could be the settings are off a bit or the dish is not tweeked in just right. (might need an adjustment with a signal meter to fine tune dish)
If you want check your settings...watch the green line on the graph on the right hand side of dish setting page.
Make changes to settings while watching the green line...stop when the line runs the highest on the chart.
Also try a reset to get any bugs out.
Good luck testing...
We are all down now with another ECM...so wait to test this with the next new bin. (likely later tonight)
