If you have a 8psk original module from dn, do you need a sub board to install 8psk module. can you just buy sub board with out 8psk.

Re: Sonicview 8000 HD Molude, setup, etc...

Hi all,

Yesterday I installed the 8psk module and adapter into the SV 8000 HD using the instructions posted on these boards. According to the instructions when everything is installed you can confirm a successful installation by entering ‘Menu’ and going under the ‘External Module’ to see if the receiver will pick up the 8psk module.

Well, on my ‘Menu’ screen I don’t even have the ‘External Module’ listed among the options so I know something went wrong in the installation. The only hiccup I came across while I was installing the sub board happened when I tried to connect the power cable to the receiver. The end of the power cable that plugs into the sub board was pretty rough to connect and I didn’t want to use too much force and break the thing, so I didn’t snap the power cable all the way into the module. I’m thinking this is where I messed it up but wanted to hear how others connected the power cable and if you had to kinda jam that sucker in there. Thanks!

Oh and jd3rdnoah:
If you mean the instructions that were posted on how to install the 8psk kit, the unzipped file is a .pdf file which opens with Adobe Acrobat (they have the free version of Acrobat Reader on their website). And as far as formatting, if you plug in your USB drive and then under My Computer do a Right Click, Format on the USB drive, that should lead you to an option to format the thing using the FAT32 file format system. Hope it helps...

Re: Sonicview 8000 HD Molude, setup, etc...

Hello grasshopper,My sv hd 8000 burned, damage when I was downloading the bin 320.The front screen board of the sonicview burned.I opened and I can see a burned spot in the back of the front screen. Before it burned downloading time was 1.5 minutes, but it was taking more like 5.1 minutes. My burned sonicview is hd and has the 8 hd molude, do you think that 8 hd molude burned my box, because the extra time took to get chhannels.

Re: Sonicview 8000 HD Molude, setup, etc...

Grasshopper: This is all very impressive, however, do I need the 8psk module and sub board to watch TV? I want to buy the Sonicview 8000HD, but I want to start simple. Is the 8000HD ready for use out of the box? Do I need anything else to hook up and check out the features?. I understand that if I want DN, then I need the module + board. Bev, not yet??? Can I add the module and board after I am more familiar with the unit? Are my current dish 500, and old dave dish set to 110, and 119 sufficient to get reception? Do I need a dish pointed to 91W for Bev? Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. P.S. I am very impressed with your work, and the work of this site.
