USB stick

Hello: I bought a SV8K today. I've been reading all day, and have not installed, as yet. I read all 30 pages of the forum, the user's manual and Idiot's Guide for SV8K. Many times it is mentioned to format your USB stick in PC Fat32. However, nowhere have I read how to format the stick. I've read of people who had a problem because the USB stick was not formatted before trying to flash the receiver. Please advise how to format the USB stick, and how to know if and when it is formatted. Thank you, endlessly.

oh its very easy.
well first just extract the file to your desktop.then drag and drop it onto the usb stick.it should work fine.
if it doesn't all you need to do with usb stick inserted in your pc.
press start-
my computer-
RIGHT click on your usb device-
select properties-
and click on format.

if no luck still.you will see where you can format it with your sv 8k also.

and i can tell your worried about your investment.-don't blame ya there.but dont be afraid of her,really.it it is all very easy to use.

about the only thing you don't want to do is turn the power off or remove the stick when it is loading.thats all.

It's not normal to format the usb stick to use it. It should be ready to go as you bought it. I heard a lot of that same crap when I got my captiveworks. NTFS works just great on that and I use the same stick on my sv4000.

Put stick in computer. Open My Computer. Find stick (could name it at this time if you choose - (i.e., Sat or FTA) and highlight. Top left of My Computer Folder choose File and select Format and proceed to Format. It will tell you when it is done.
