Exclamation Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

Hey guys,

I have searched the forums for this particular problem, could not find anything. Here is the problem:

Signal remains, quality drops to 0 on Echostar 8,x (110 bird) randomly. Powering LNB off and then on again fixes the problem.

Setup:
Elliptic dish, 3 LNBs - 1 (reg) for 110, 1 (uni) for 118.7,119 and 1 (reg) for 129. 4 way diseq sonicview switch, SV8K HD with 8psk module all brand new. (Getting HD fine on 129).

Nothing obstructing, I am looking into the skies (new construction, we dont even have any trees). When quality on 110 is available its at 95%+ so pointing is correct, cant be the wind either because LNB off and on works right away. There is no consistency for signal dissapearance: sometimes it doesnt happen for a few hours, then *bam* 3-4 times in a row. Signal is NOT lost while watching a channel, only when switching channels. I thought switch perhaps, but sometimes it happens when switching channels between Echostar's8 (110) channels, no necesseraily going off to a diff satellite.

Could it be related to "lost-signal" bin problems that are often described for SV8000?

Thanks in advance for any tips, and also thanks for reading this.
Regards,

Re: Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

Sounds like a switch problem to me. Is everything grounded correctly? The only way you can prove it's not the switch is by removing the switch and then repeating the lost quality problem. If you remove the switch and cannot repeat the problem, keep in mind that the switch may not be bad, but that it could be the Diseqc commands from the STB causing the problem.

Also when I got my new 1000.2 3 lnb dish I read around that your best off to concentrate on pinpointing 119 first. then adjust skew for 110 and 129. when your in dish setup is it showing the right bird on the top right when you change. And is it a dual lnb your getting 118.7 and 119. 119 disq 1 110 disq 2 and 129 disq 3

Re: Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

Hey guys, thank you for your responces.

Grounding -> I dont think so, dish is up on second floor roof, mounted on the firewall separator (town house). I know it should protect the receiver, but I didnt know it can screw around with the switch.

Installed as following:

110 = diseq 1
118.7/119 = diseq 2 (universal single)
129 = diseq 3

Was hoping I wont have to climb again but alas it seems I have to go back up!

Cheers,

Re: Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

Hey treffy I have been having a lot of the same problems as you. It all seemed to have started around bin 314 for me. At first I fixed it by going back to bin 295. That solved the problem for a couple of weeks but no longer works. I recently installed bin 323 and now back with the same problems as you. I have posted several threads about this and all I get back is check your setting, dish, and connections. If you can correct the situation by changing the programing it would seem to me that the problem is in the programing. The other problem is there seems to be a reluctance to admit that there is a problem in the programing. Before you go climbing up your brick wall looking for the wild goose I would try playing around with some of the older bins to see it this stabilizes your signals and wait for a new bin with the correct fix. Let us know how you do with this. Thanks

Re: Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

After installing v-323 I came up with the same signal loss as before. I then did a factory reset from the menu and rescanned the Sats. 110, 119, and 129 and got everything back for now.

Re: Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

I'm back to the same signal loss as before. I going to try the bin 274 that bobby suggested and see what happens.

Re: Another variety of lost quality, pecular!

Still the same problem, and its worse on 129 bird it seems. Loaded 274 but I still have the problem. I wonder, did I need to upgrade the firmware as well? Unless the bin updates it as well...

Also, can someone explain please why the 720 stuff doesnt go full screen? I have full HD channels on 1080i show up correctly, but IE all ABC channels arent full screen even if I select the 129bird's 53xx channels...

Thanks!
