A-1 Board
arbor,
Could you either post or point me to a complete explanation of the 8 psk. I'm thinking of upgrading to HD and and get the receiver that seem to be out front on the nag3 thing but but I'm still not up on the 8 psk and if I need it or not. Sorry if wrong thread. Feel free to move or delete but if you could do this it would be appreciated.
nope your cool.that question is right along the same topic of this thread.
well basically,dn uses a method of sending their hd signals.
this method is called "turbo 8psk".
because only service provider dn uses this method -that i know of lol.
the manufacturers stay 100% legal by NOT including it in their units.
now, should you,the end user go ahead and buy and install one, well the manufacturer can't be liable for that.
without that board it will get FTA HD.
it can receive the HD on bev without the board, because they do not use the "turbo 8psk" method.that's why right now you can view the FTA HD channel there.
(the encrypted channels now by n3 is a different story of course, and has nothing to do with add on board.)

Re: A-1 Board
Ok since this was my thread at first and now im totaly confused. Do I need the A1 board? Im only picking up 110,119 so I dont even get all the HD channels (I only have the dish 500 not the 1000.2 or plus) eventually I will upgrade but for right now will it be better for me to upgrade to the A-1 or not?

Re: A-1 Board
there are a few hd channels on 119/110 but not many if you are not worried about them right now then no you do not need it
but to get any hd then yes you need it
if you already have one and it works don't buy the new one

Yes, for the HD channels, you'll need the card. Keep it

Re: A-1 Board
What im asking is is it better then the one I have. I already have a 8psk the old one and it works fine. I get some HD channels now with the 500. Now when I upgrade my dish do I need to upgrade to the A1 board too?

"no,if the one you have works fine your all set.

ok.the new A-1 board is only an UPDATE to the old one.
it does not get any more channels than the old did.
you do not have to upgrade to the new A-1.
your old will work.
if yours ever goes bad.you may want to consider replacing it with the A-1 as its reported to run cooler and its easier to install.
it does not matter where you point to the sky.an 8psk board,is an 8psk board.they do the same thing.
