Sonicview 8000 Can't See Hard Drive
Hi all, I currently have a zip drive and the unit sees it but I just purchased a hard drive (Seagate 120 Gb), formatted it to Fat32 but it can't see it. I'm stumped and getting frustrated. This was the same situation with the zip drive and after I formatted it, the unit was able to see it.
ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Sonicview 8000 Can't See Hard Drive
I have to shut my receiver off and then back on and/or the external drive also.
If you plug it in when the reciever is on it doesn't always recognize it.
Good Luck, it works for me.
I still do it from time to time.

Re: Sonicview 8000 Can't See Hard Drive
Thanks Bigevil and grettahans. I have tried hard booting with rear switch but nothing. The hard drive is a Seagate Freeagent Go and has no on/off switch. When I formatted it I did not partition it and I am wondering if that could be the reason. When I plug it into my laptop though it is recognized so I am baffled as to why the Sonicview cannot see it.
Thanks

Re: Sonicview 8000 Can't See Hard Drive
Tomcat, the USB zip drive works after it was formated to Fat32 so I would think the external hard drive would work as well.
Bigevil I will search for the latest Bin file and see if that helps.
Thanks all.

Hey thanks TC, I was wondering why I was having a little problem recording. I have just been starting the recording when the program starts if it doesn't record on it's own and that works for now. I'll check it after the fix comes out. I didn't put the latest bin on yet...got to check it out. BTW, that's good to know that you know when to leave the TV alone....lol
Hamton, did you try turning off the receiver from the back rocker switch, plugging in the hard drive then turn the rocker switch back on? That worked for me once. The USB can be a little touchy on the SV8K. Let us know how you are doing. Thanks

Re: Sonicview 8000 Can't See Hard Drive
still doing the same thing record then stops the video sometimes reboots now .. i tried a factory which i have done about 6 times and the newest file then i also tried to format fat 32 then ext2 to see if there was a difference none ..
so i tried to change to a different hard drive thinking it was my drive and same thing .. freezes or record is set at 0GB and nothing ..
this was a problem along time ago when they first came out remember arb then they had the update to the new recording features you and i played with ..
i think they are totally changing the bins for the up and coming full emu and they had to almost start at a beta bin
just my guess who know but i know we are not the only ones .. watching tv perfectly just records like crap..

Re: Sonicview 8000 Can't See Hard Drive
Did you try the "Scan USB" (Menu -> USB -> Scan USB). Not sure what that function is really for, but I get PVR crashes often and running USB Scan seems to recover the drive event when a hard reboot won't do it.
