Why Coolsat 8000 HD Got Discontinued?
C/P
Coolsat 8000 HD without USB will be no good once bev switches to mpeg4.
There are rumors of a rs232 adapter for the soon-to-be-defunct Coolsat 8000HD non-usb, but I wouldn't bet on it.
The Coolsat 8000HD that people are buying now seems to be a rushed product by Coolsat to maintain marketshare and keep its image up as an FTA leader. But rushing a product does have its consequences...and we will soon see.
Thanks GG

Thanks Carpenter1 for this useful information. I was seriously thinking of purchasing an unit for DN. Can you tell us anything about its replacement or are there other manufacturers coming out with HD? My wish list would be for HD plus PVR.

I don't understand CS8000 Discontinued?
Carpenter1,
I don't understand...The CS8000 is discontinued? It just came out...Is there a problem with the USB to RS232C interface setup, I am curently running RS232 to RS232 cable setup...I have uploaded an attachment with the USB to RS232 hookup I found searching on yahoo...will this work when BEV goes MPEG-4? Just curious, because i have the CS8000 and that sucks if it's true...
Thanks, any input would be greatful...

They kinda rushed to promote and be the first to release a product that is not ready yet. But let's see what will happen with the coders if they can make something with it. They are not making no more 8000 as of right now.

Soon SonicView 8000HD will be out.

SatelliteJunkie,
Let me run this by you...would the above picture of the USB to RS232C cable work for the CS8000, (I see what people are talking about now in the forum for example, with the SV4000 USB 2.0 Drive), can you hook up the cable into a USB 2.0 external hard drive and install the new data that way?
