NEWB - Have coolsat 6000premium - now have an HDTV...HELP

I dont have much a clue about all this FTA stuff, but this looked like the best forum for help. I currently have a coolsat 6000premium that i hook up and find the new codes for and install when my channels go out. I dont know anything about the sat. i have outside. I had a friend professional install it cuz he knew about all this. I just bought a bigscreen HDTV, but i get all the DISH channels but no ESPNHD or DISCOVERYHD or anything of that sort. I see this has HD capabilities but what should i do? Just buy one of these boxes an hook it up to the same sat. i have in the back? Or am i completely off base. thanks

I believe CS6000 doesn't do HD. You'll need an HD receiver and a dish capable of pulling in HD sats.

The Coolsat 6000 is not a HDTV receiver. You will only receive SDTV with the Coolsat 6000. You will need to get a Sonicview 8000 or Coolsat 8100 to get HDTV. The Coolsat 8100 only works with Bev, but I think that Sonicview works on both Bev and Charlie.

You need two things to bring in HD channels: a receiver capable of HD (your CS6000 does not qualify) and a dish/LNB combo pointed at a satellite that broadcasts HD channels (for DN, that currently is 129). Do lots of reading before making an investment. My personal recommendation would be to wait until the current ECM problems are fully resolved.

Ok, i understand my 6000 wont get HD. But how do i find out what type of dish i have outside? And once i do, where can i find out if it will recieve HD signal or not? Thanks!!

Are you sure that Sonicview will get Dish HD channel?
