Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

Three yrs. ago last thanksgiving I received in the mail my very on (and 1st) coolsat receiver,it was love at 1st sight. For my coworkers freinds and familey I have bought 37 4000's and 6 6000's. Now it looks like it's time to upgrade I would like to ask and it's really cause I dont have time to sit down and read all the reports. What is the most lodgeical choice in brands that I move all these people to.hope I have not offended anyone but it's important that I make the rite choice in this matter over 40 people are counting on me and I'm lost.

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

I would go with CW, VS Or SV they seem to be up more than the others, and one of the first to get support.

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

I had the cs5000 and upgraded to the cs6100. It is usually up with the others, or shortly after. I also have a SV4000 and love it. The support on both has been great.

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

I would think that aba could ask the coders if it is over for the cs 4000 5000 and 6000. I say that because this is getting rediculous and a very expensive hobby. Not to mention frustrating. I know I know be patient. I have about ONE nerve left and coolsat is sitting on it.

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

what ever you buy make sure you don't suport coolsat couse they will not suport you. with there new rec they will do the same thing in a few mouths no suport. the old pansat 2500a has better suport today than coolsat and these rec are old but the coders keep them going. so good luck with your choice.

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

all rec went down at the same time, and we've received two fixes from CW's before even receiving anything from cs4000,5000 and 6000. what's up with that?

Smile Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

everyones going to have to remeber that this is a fta box and thats what it is used mainly for, anything else you do with it is considered a hobby in testing the stbs. from what dik or charlie charges for their script i know i have well come out ahead in value for what i paid for their recievers, i feel like the rest of you as in the coolsat stbs i have gotten but i have moved on and got a cw stb and the longest i had to wait is 24 hrs for a bin; from my observations it seems as if they come out with new stb models every year and discontinue the others meaning that the bins for the old reciever will be slower in coming out . just a thought when you buy one you ought to check how long that stb has been on the market because the newest ones will get support faster

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

I love my coolsats[easy to operate and can get use too].My back up is cw 800[3 of them. My other back-up is paying for it. It is not just coders have forgotten I believe, It is that the ECM are stronger it is harder for older units to handle them...And coders to decode them. Really only the coders know whats going on and it is their job not ours. We can only appreciate them and show lol... When coolsat was first in bins others were complaining and now that they are on the bottom. You are complaining. Hobby--free to air a wonderful thing if it is not only your only resource.. Units come and go, bins come and go...There are models that are old and bins still come out. Enjoy what you have, when you have it.

Re: Coolsat... Where Do I Go From Here

just drop coolsat

this was posted so many times and still ppl cry over it
look at it this way this is FTA not STB. if you get STB then great for you and us all but it is not the main purpose.

just my 2 cents

Just my 2 cents (Canadian) but this guy (tnc) wasn't suffering with only a Coolsat 5K while the entire Coolsat company just decided to say; "sure we sold you our product, but you're just a sucker... SUCKER!" The s h i t Coolsat is pulling is worth re-telling till the entire Coolsat chain of FTA receivers are bankrupt and complete history... But that's just my 2 cents (Canadian)

WORD
Alright, so I got that off my chest... HERE'S where I call home now, I no longer use my Coolsat and if you're still not sure, no I didn't upgrade to the newest Coolsat, I'm into the new world of FAST SUPPORT, DUAL TUNER PVR yup you guessed it, I now test a Sonicview 360 Elite PVR with a Western Digital 320 gig external USB hard drive (90 bucks) to store over 300 hours of what ever I want.
Any Coolsaters that are limping along with the crappy support of un-coolsat take a good look at moving over to this receiver, it's a sweet one for sure!

WORD

-side note to the mods, how come there isn't any "poll choices" for SV? I'd put it right up there with VS for most popular.
