I am not a pc guru by any means, and have no Linux experience. I do feel comfortable working with computers so I was more than tempted to test the fun of this...and the frustration that comes with it. I got a rev. 1 and updated the processor myself, which I had never done before. I was expecting major headaches, but so far it isn't what I would call difficult. Be prepared for some frustration, but you will be able to get it running (read, read, and read some more). I do not have mine fully running the way I want, but that is because work is taking up my time and I am installing a t55 dish this weekend. You will find all the help you need just like with other stbs from the friendly folks in the forums, so I wouldn't let the lack of fta knowledge be a concern. The coders are fast, the stb will have other uses besides a doorstop if/when things come to an end or a long roadblock.
