Thats some very good info but after playing I can tell you it is not entirely accurate. If you have a working box and are watching TV you can remove the internet cable and your redlight will go out and your picture will freeze after about 15 sec however the message you will receive will be I=on N=on p=off E=off

You obviously cannot connect to your router since there is no cable but your box is saying the network and internet are working. I believe this is proof that I=On means you have an IP address on your box. Once it gets one the first time the box will keep it until you reboot it. Also I believe N=On just means Network Connection is set to ON in your STB. You can prove this by setting it to off and your picture will freeze and the message will say I=On N=OFF.

The rest of the info seems to be quite accurate and helpful for troubleshooting. Thanks for the useful post.
