How is the AR supposed to work?

While your watching tv the keys change and the box picks them up, correct?

The AR on the new bin 1.62 been getting the keys VERY slowly causing me to have to hard boot my box if I turn it off and then on later on ( after the keys changed). Same problem on 700.
