i have an older computer that i would like to setup to use as a PVR. is this doable? also to prep the computer i was thinking of using an external hard drive to copy and remove all info from the computer to free up as much space as possible. so my next question is can i move all installed software to the external hard drive, i.e. acad, photoshop, email, internet settings, and several other extensive programs.

if so can you give me advise on how to do it safely and completely.
