SatelliteJunkie,

I realize that you are a moderator in this forum, and that you have staked your well established reputation on your representations above, but Coolsat HAS NOT dropped its firmware support for the 4000, 5000, and 6000 units. You are, indeed, mistaken. Coolsat has discontinued hardware support for said units for inability to get parts from the suppliers. Coolsat currently offers a conditional hardware upgrade. Coolsat continues to support the functional lower end units at the official release site coolsatusa.

However, NORW Group, an unsupported third party firmware vender, has dropped its support for the lower end CS units because the 4000 bin is wide open for other hackers [and Echostar], and the 5000 has a clone [Cooltec]. There is no clone for the 4000 [who would clone junk?]. I am not aware of any clone of the 6000.

As pertaining to the wide open NORW CS 4000 bins, every time a new NORW Echostar Narga2 hack was released Echostar shortly made it useless. Apparently, the same observations were made with the 5000 and 6000 units. All you have to do is check this forum's logs of the ecms and corrolate those with the NORW lower end releases....until the floor gave way; realization. It's rather tough being targeted as number one in this racket.

I hope these corrections to your publication above helps your reputation, my friend! Who are you going to believe? Coolsat? or NORW Group groupies? Always check your sources, firstly.

What in the ale are you talking about?
The last working bin for CS4/5or6000 was July 16 bin 178.
This is Sept...by my count...that is not support buddy.
There might be some testers who discover an older working bin...but that really don't count.

And there is nothing on the CS home site but a factory flash bin to restore the OS.
But there are no FTA bin files released there.

That is not the release site friend.

I respect your right to freedom of speech...but be careful who you attack...and know what your talking about first.

And as far a hardware goes...there are lots of qualified repair shops that fix them units...but why bother if you can't get supported? (some of our more qualified members repair their own units because they know electronics and there is nothing special (that I know of) about the components within)

If you are correct about your statement...why don't you post the fixes for us so we can all enjoy the support you claim to have.

Anybody that thinks this guy knows what he is talking about...is welcome to see for yourself at the Official CoolSat home site linked below. >>>

Coolsat Official Retail Site - Coolsat 8100 , Coolsat 6100 , Coolsat 7100, Coolsat Dongle

Coolsat USA - Official Web Site of Free To Air Satellite Receivers

* PS. We don't deal with NORW group "groupies"...we deal directly with NORW.

I believe you are correct...SJ

.
I agree with you that there has been no support for the people who bought Coolsat 4000, 5000 and 6000.

I bought a coolsat 5000 and a Viewsat Extreme at the same time. I'm still getting support from Viewsat. Even before Coolsat stopped supporting the 4 K, 5K and 6K, they were slower releasing fixes than others.

You mentioned Coolsat Dongle but I didn't see any reference at the site you referenced. Do they have a Dongle? I read that Viewsat wasn't going to come out with a Dongle and am disappointed, if that is true.

Re: Coolsat 4k 5k 6k Owners Please Read

SatelliteJunkie,

Hello, my friend. I do respect your chrome; you have staked your extensive reputation on your representation that the "higher end" Coolsat units will always be supported by third party venders, such as NORW Group. Wow!

If you are aware of the Dish Network's stock holder's meeting in January last, you hold and know that the owners approved implementation of Nagra3 before the end of this year. It is public information. Why are you withholding your knowledge?

History...

The Nagra2 decryption came from Europe. It filtered down to the US through rom102 hacks. It then filtered down to fta implementation. Fta gave no credit to the Europeans or rom102 hackers. NORW Group, the number one fta hacker, took credit for the hack. It will not be so easy next round.

It took a year. Credit for the hack was misrepresented.

The approved Nagra3 implementation by Echostar is destined in a few months. The fta hardware suppliers are selling as many "newer" units as they can before their destined "slump". No, it's not over.

However, when Narga3 or 4 is placed in the stream, you, SatelliteJunkie, shall have lost your reputation, at your request. All units will be down for a considerable length of time. Logically speaking, you already have lost your wager, as it is inevitable. Read the Dish Network stockholder stuff. It's Echostar stuff. The very same thing happened with another fellow pertaining to DTV. He is still out in the dark.

You do have chrome, my friend. Don't wager your rep again; unless you are a compulsive gambler.

Notice:

All units will be down with the implementation of Nagra3 in the next few months. It might optimistically take the Europreans a year or so to hack the new encryption and system. We will have to wait for the rom decoders releases [fta groups don't do the actual nagra hacks], and fta mis-credit protocal has made that revelation unlikely; the rom sites are now private!

Don't spontaneously buy any fta receiver.....yet. Read the Dish Network annual meeting of stockholders. It is a done deal. Read it first "elsewhere"; you won't get it here. Right, SatelliteJunkie?

Watch out, guys. Don't even listen to the representations that seem .....real.

All Coolsat FTA units will be up, as designed, for true fta.

Watch out, my friends.

Thanks for your info tensor.
Information is always welcome here...that is how we all learn more about FTA.
I don't believe I was "withholding my knowledge"...
I don't recall your asking me about it.

You are looking at the BIG picture...and your comments are correct about nagra3 & nagra4...however, I don't worry right now about what might happen in a year or two from now.
We worry about the short term...keeping our members supported with firmware files.
We however are not coders...or hackers...or hardware manufacturers.
Our job is to run this web site...and that's all we do.
I never said your unit would work forever...and I don't expect to remain up forever either.
As a tester, we are happy to be up when we can...and most of us realize that there will be periods of time when nobody is up...that is out of our control. (and yours too)
So we will cross that bridge when we come to it...and roll with the punches.

We are all just bottom feeders in FTA...and once that is realized...it's a day by day cat & mouse game.

PS. I don't come here to worry about my reputation.
I come here to help others with information & knowledge that I have gained over the years of my own testing...in an attempt to give back what others have given me in the past.

And I thank you again for sharing your knowledge with all of us...you may know more than I do about FTA, so by all means...please step up and share it with us friend.

To be honest, I'm not sure the status on Dongle for CS.
I heard a lot of talk about it when it first came along...but not so much lately.
I believe I might have heard a rumor that it was on a side burner for now...as the cardless fixes were getting the job done without dongle?

Your right...the link says Dongle...but the site don't even mention it???
* I don't have a dongle. My PC server is dialup. (rural)
