Dish Network Receiver - 102 Chip inside (cardless receiver model# 311)
This is the cheapest way to make your own card. You can get this kind of box for $30 to $40 at flea market, Goodwill or Thrift stores. All you need to do is, cut 4 traces on board (receiver), rd/wr rom, then you have to repair the cut traces to run the ird. Try cutting the traces and installing a4-pos dip sw to enable the rd/wr as needed...It does involve good hand and eye coordination....
Good luck to all... I will attempt to do it this weekend. Here is the INFO on what boxes you will need to get: The rev range for ex-sub 311 cardless is 281 to 287. it works like this: 281=103; 283=105; 284=106; 285=107, and 286=108. The 311 rev286 are the hardest ones to unlock. A 311 ird at rev287 equals a rom102 rev109 card; it cannot be unlocked at this time. Virgin 311's at rev 281 (virgin means that it is never been a sub) needs to have their chips removed from the motheboard to unlock it. Now, if you go a dealer and ask for 311; he is going to give you the redesigned 311 receiver with the 206 chip which is similiar to EX07 and SW02/SW04 cards - not testable at this time. So the bet, if you are loooking for a 311; it must be a ex-sub with a low rev number. |

He is talking about if you take the old DN card (the blue one) and take the Rom 102 chip out of the 311 and connect it to that card you have a ROM 102 card. I have posted some pics to go along with grasshoppers Frankncard. This has been done and it works (so I'm told lol.) and this is what the testing part of this hobby is all about. Now do you folks understand what a hobby is (not you two) that say this is not a hobby and the only thing you test are Bins. Try doing this!

frankncard! i love it! lol
ya,iv been thinking about getting into this.i have a dn box from back. id need to find a place where they take cash local.just to parrinoid to order any of the goodies needed online. your right, and no time would be a better time to learn plastic than now. on a scale of 1-10 how would you rank the difficulty level involved with plastic? i'd scale fta box at 1 or 2 its so easy.

There are a lot of different ways to do it. Some people just use a heat gun to pop the chip out, or they just cut around the chip. I have to see the DN receiver myself first, and see what I can do with it. The hardest part is to find those receivers.

i know the receivers are being tested but what im saying is that the ones that are being tested have to be an exsub. They are not taking the chips out of the receivers and unlocking them and then reistalling the chip. The passive interface card is just for programming and not unlocking. Unless the place where i do most of the reading and learning are just saying that only exsub 311 will work cause it would be hard and alot of trouble to unlock internal chip and the exsub is easier since that it not required.
