CS 5000 "Writing Failed" after loading bin?
I have had my 5000 for 2 years and have never seen this. I'm using the 2.4 loader and when I try to load 1.83 it goes through the motions and everything looks fine, but after the 5000 and my loader say it's finished, it comes up with the error "Writing Failed". The 5000 is incrementing as if it's taking the bin. It will accept my channel list with all of my favorites and satellite settings, but won't take the bin. Any suggestions? RSC

I pressed the power button on the front and channeled up and nothing happened. I then used the remote control power button and channeled up with the same results. All that seems to happen is the stb just power cycles? RSC

Re: CS 5000 "Writing Failed" after loading bin?
There is also a new loader for cs5000. The new loader is v2.6 and is a little different from v2.4 with supposed cleaner erase and writing of files. The new loader v2.6 is recommended for all CS4,5 and 6k users by Norwest them selfs

Nuke all of the files on the stick, then reload the one file you need and try that.
Yes, even the old ones.

A couple of things - I tried loading the bin on two different 5000's with the same results. I then took one of them to my desktop in lieu of using my laptop again and presto chango everything worked. Must be something going on with my piece of junk laptop. The other thing - where do I find a copy of the 2.6 loader? I will do some further investigation and find out if it actually is my laptop causing the "Writing Failed". Thanks to all who have taken the time to correspond. Oh, by the way, my 5000 is up and running for the first time in many moons. Happy days are here again. RSC

You were right!! It wasn't my crummy laptop. I deleted the loader and the 1.83 bin on my jump drive, reloaded them and everything worked. Thanks a lot for the troubleshooting help!!! I apologized to my laptop. RSC
