discontinued:coolsat receiver in canada
seems that coolsat stopped producing receivers (message on an official coolsat reseller). Is norw moved or just gone forever?

Is sad and hard to see that cs is gone from long time ago,this brand was my baby before but I can't live in the pass,please pick another brand like sonicview and forget about cs

Just read an article, dated 1 October 2008 about Dish Network attempting, in court, to obtain personal info on all people who have purchased a Coolsat receiver. The attempt failed. However the article goes on to quote Eric Jin, boss of Freetech, which owns Coolsat, who states that because of the fear generated by the court case, sales of receivers have fallen from 20k -30k units per month all the way down to 1k per month. Jin is quoted as saying "We're dying right now".
Perhaps Coolsat has been forced out of business, that would explain the lack of new files.

Yep, no more coolsats at its canada site. To bad some coders couldn't step up and do some codeing for the coolsat owners. Wish I know how, but not smart enought for that! Hopifully they will make a comeback!

That came from coolsatcanada blog page.
If you check the authorized dealer page at coolsatusa or coolsatca you
will see that coolsatcanadasales are advertising 6100, 7000 & 7100 as
in stock. And other authorized dealers in Canada are doing the same.

umm guys, coolsat has nothing to do with the "new" files. Under no circumstances are they allowed to produce anything besides factory FTA-Only software.
They have sold the source code to coders like No rw. Free tech has no responsibility with what no rw does with it.
Don't blame them for what is going on now. This is all about software.
Funny though...how no rw didn't have any files for the ?000 series stbs when cs was trying to push their new product line, but when sales of the new stuff came to a halt that they somehow were able to write for the older boxs again..
This is why I stick to true FTA, rabbit ears and pay for cable
