You can add this one to the list of NOT working:

Western Digital My Passport Essential WDME2500TN 250GB USB 2.0 Black External Hard Drive

I was able to use the following:
Freeagent 500GB Barracuda 7200 USB 2.0 3.5E 8MB

I attempted to format the Western Digital w/SV8000HD & using swissknife to no avail.

The Barracuda was easily formatted and used by the SV8000HD.
