J-tagging is a pain in the a## for a first timer. J-tagging is needed when a reciever is completely dead. The flash memory has been compromised and needs to be wiped out and started fresh. To do so you need A J-tag cable and the proper j-tag file for your specific reciever. The reciever needs to have the cover removed to plug the cable into the circuit board.
Pansat recievers are known to need this the most. This is due to the clone killer bins released to keep the people who buy clone recievers from using official files. Problem is that these clone killers can also blank out a authentic unit too.
Hope this helps.
