DirecTV HD-DVR to PC?

Hello,

I'm new here, so please be kind.

I've recently ordered the DTV HD-DVR package with all kinds of freebies and such. One of my big inquiries was if you could transfer from the DVR to a PC.

First call to DTV to ask this - yes you can by plugging a USB cable from the DVR to the PC, and it will show up as another drive, and you can copy files off.

Next visit to Best Buy - No you can not, as we've been told by DTV

2nd call to DTV - Yes you can by using the mediashare program (hxxp://www.directv.com/mediashare), but in looking at that site, doesn't say anything about transferring programming from DVR to PC, only says about sharing pictures and music from PC to DVR.

I did see the "turbocharge your DVR" sticky thread...LOTS of good information, thank you, but I'm just trying to prepare before it gets here.

My question - Other than the capture method (cables from back of DVR to PC capture device) is there an easy means to transfer programming from the newer DriectTV HD-DVR to your PC? TIA.
