CW 3000HD CONV to MPEG-4
I was at my sat guys place today. First time I ever saw a CW3000HD. Never knew it was PC and Receiver in one, way cool. The guy had the Genpix 8psk converter strapped to the back of unit.
They were in the midst of changing the MPEG-2 chip for an Mpeg-4 chip, etc etc, way above my brain wave patterns, lol.
If anyone is interested let me know. These guys get anything up and running. That's all they do all day is test/fix and more testing and fixing of PC's and STB's.
They fixed my 2 laptops that 5 other places and my IT Manager couldn't fix.
Just thought it would be of interest to some.
I forgot to mention the guy mentioned something about the power unit not having a csa approval stamp on it, and that it may not meet some standards. A bit vague but I wasn't taking notes,

Yeah that CW3000 is a nice looking box, a bit 'bulky' for my taste but never the less a good box.

Re: CW 3000HD CONV to MPEG-4
As of today the Cw3000 is still not doing MPEG-4. It was stated over 6 months ago that a processor upgrade would be needed to do MPEG-4. Last I heard CW was in negotiation for a video codec to process the stream. It's beyond me why a processor upgrade would be needed in the first place to do the stream. Look at both the SV and VS with the STI 7100 processors. The core operates at 266 MHz and does audio and video decoding at 400 MHZ, so why would it be suggested that an AMD 4200 dual core be needed? This box has alot of potential, but it's behind the curve. Just my thoughts.

I think your a little out of touch here. When the 1.0.1.13file came out it had it on there. Its the only box out there that is upgradable and most flexable!

My bad. I never saw that release. That release with all the features is the most impressive yet. That really looks like the true testers box to have. Good looking out.
