Q. How come my 7000 only records for 1 hour at a time?

A. By default it is set for one hour. Once recording has started, then press the record button again, this will bring up a window which will allow you to extend it up to two hours.

Q. What is the ideal hard drive for the 7000?
A. A hard drive up to 500GB, 7200 rpm, external power and pre-formatted Fat32.

Q. Can I get a USB powered Hard Drive?
A.
In general, an external power is better since they support higher rpms (7200), whereas the USB powered drive are only 5400 rpm.

Q. If I want to use a cable to update files, do I use a 9 pin null or a straight cable?
A. Straight cable.

Q. Can you use a USB flash drive to record?
A. You can use a USB flash drive but it is very limited. The receiver records about 1GB per hour, so it’s better to use an external USB hard drive.

Q. Do you need anything for “Time Shifting”?
A. Time shifting is recorded onto internal memory and is always on. You do not need any other accessory.

I still cannot find the way to make my USB drive work.
I have formatted it with the unit. When I press record - I see the activity on the USB hard drive so it's obviously recording, but how do I replay it? This thing just drives me crazy!
- there is a menu called "utilities" - there is an "mp3 player" and a "picture viewer" but it shows that it is empty.
Where is this menu that shows me the content of my USB hard drive so I can play the movies? Where is this freaking PVR functionality? The lack of the info is just maddening.
Please drop a line if anybody knows it.

Maybe a silly question - but I have a coolsat 7000pvr - is there any way to load the keys manually?? someone said I could but can't figure out how to- thanks
