Re: Down c7000
This is disheartening. When a newbie comes on and begins to research a receiver people should tell them about bin support as well as other things. Sonicview and Viewsat and some others were up and running last night. Coolsat is way behind and for some reason the 7000 and 7100 is last. For this reason and this reason alone I would not recommend my receiver. Norw even came out with a big pledge just recently about how they would not let us down and bin support would be even faster than ever. Phooey!

Re: Down c7000
Well, the 5k, 6k, 8k and 8100hd all have new files, I"m sure the 7k and 7100 will show up today. I have the 7k and 8100hd, my brother the 5, 6, and 8k he and I agree, the CS is a great product the picture quality is fantastic when it's up :-)
I have now for the last year read post after post cutting down various receivers, I guess if I were unhappy with my CS, I'd buy another one, but it's impossible to find one that is 100% up and for that everyone has it's down time... for now, I"ll stay with the CS until the real N3 fix arrives!

Re: Down c7000
David, I'm not a griper, really. I actually like my CS7K okay. Lot's of nice features. But I'm just saying that "new bin time" is a factor to total enjoyment. I've been unscientifically keeping track of who comes in first with "down fixes" and CS isn't near the top, not near the bottom but there are other faster coders. I agree I wouldn't get any new receiver until n3 gets resolved someway.
And on that subject "N3", I saw, just a blib on hashhu that "DN N3 was coming down December 17, 2008", do you know anything about this?

Re: Down c7000
Just like cars and other consumer productts, there are a wide range of products on the market for those to choose from.. for now, I'll stick with my CS until N3 is figured out. I do see posts about the Nfusion breaking some channels, but that to is still in the works.
now, I have no idea about what DN will do or when, just know N3 is coming to FTA, time to store up your shows on HDD and DVD it may be sometime until we get the shows back.

Re: Down c7000
I have one of the other leading brands of fta receivers that gets fixes faster, but I ALWAYS go back to my coolsat 7000 for the sheer quality of picture, nice professional looking epg, and the wonderful built in dvr function. The other major brand one I only use in a pinch and it seems rather chincy and cheap compared to cs products. That must say something. I'm wondering about the quality of picture of the Nfusion product, it seems good, but I have never seen it live.

Re: Down c7000
Seems like they are jamming us more just before big PPV events, wish I had saved all my old bins to try, because they are probably just dragging out one of the old ECMs. Maybe PPV is giving them a little in$entive ! (fta oldy, site newbie)

Re: Down c7000
that's interesting jarvis, I like the quality of my picture just fine. I'm actually amazed that the pic quality is so different. I haven't seen anything else. I don't know where I live but there isn't anyone who even knows or ever heard of FTA. I'm tempted to go knock on a door where I see a big 60" dish cemented into the lawn see if they are "brothers." I do recall that some mods spoke of the box quality when I was researching my STB, which is amazing, in as much as my Magnavision DVD player of similar size is like a brick s* house compared to my CS7k. I wouldn't want a chincier box, but I guess it is good by FTA standards. I know we have a product review section but criticism is always too kind. We need a warts-and-all side by side feature, with 1 - 5 or 1-10 rankings for all kind of different features and functions. I'm curious, what is "dvr" you mention?
Also, since I'm here justing waiting for Godot, can somebody tell me why the 7000 was sidelined for the 7100, I must have been away for a while. Also, I have a suspicion that the Norw guys are gone for the weekend and we'll get our fix about 8am Monday morning.
