Dish 1000.2 Compatible with coolsat fta's?
I have been playing with a new setup of a CS7000 and a Dish 1000.2 . Is there any problem with running just one CoolSat receiver with this specific dish? The reciever puts out Max 400mA to the LNBs and I read the Dish 1000.2 needs 600mA. Should I have any problems with this setup? I recently had a CoolSat 7000 burn out on me with this setup. Could have been a bad ground on the dish or maybe receiver was too old or was it the power issue I mentioned above?

Re: Dish 1000.2 Compatible with coolsat fta's?
they do suck more power then the normal dish,, keep an eye on ur box, u are drawing more power then the box puts out,,,if gets hotter then normal,,then it is affecting ur coolsat,,u can get a dp44 switch and a power inserter ,,and use that to power the dish,,till u decide to run another stb with the dish,,or if u got an old sub receiver kicking around,,even if u just hook it too the dish to add extra power,,,dont matter if ur not subscribing,,it should deliver power to the lnb too

well if ur other one burnt out for no apparent reason,, i would watch ur new one closely and see if it does get real hot,,,no point in blowing up another one

oddly, the sonicview hd8000 only claims 400ma max output also, yet there are no reports of dish 1000.2 issues.the most commonly used dish with these models for example.

Re: Dish 1000.2 Compatible with coolsat fta's?
well i just double checked sonicviewusa. i thought that's where i had read that.but maybe im going crazy lol.
maybe i read it in the manual then.hang on i'l check.
tho, sadly you can't rely on specs with fta units.very often they are just wrong-and with all of them.it is frustrating.
edit,
ok the user manual opf the sv 8k claims 500ma
and there are countless users running 1000.2 dishes with no troubles.
that's a bit more than you coolie 7k according to what you have found.(i didn't verify)
those dish pro plus lnbs are power hungry.perhaps with just one fta receiver they do fine.but as you start adding more fta units with these lower output ratings and or add that extra lnb to the lnb IN port then things start going down hill without some extra juice.this has been what iv been noticing reading from others usage through the forums.

This is where that old sub box comes in handy. Hook it up just like you were going to use it. It will send that extra power you will need to help the coolie...

Re: Dish 1000.2 Compatible with coolsat fta's?
No need of the DPP44 switch or an additional cable run from the dish.
You can use only the Power adaptor/inserter for the DPP44 switch.
It can be bought as stand alone, and inserted between the cable comming from the dish and the receiver.

Re: Dish 1000.2 Compatible with coolsat fta's?
if you are having a power issue you could try this power supply
Blonder Tongue Power Supply (LPI 188PS) | LPI 188PS [Blonder Tongue] | Blonder Tongue Power Supply (LPI 188PS)
i was looking for a standalone power inserter from a dpp44 for a while but had no luck.
i ran across this for $19...its specs are 18v 800ma. i picked one up and works great for me.
