Arborist wrote favorably about this unit. Here I waited for things to settle and now it looks like the Neosat is being surpased by the Captain

Tree , I tested the 7100 without a dongle for about 10 days.It is the easiest to set up stb I have ever seen. The guide available here at abadss is four pages long.As arbor states , the unit screams quality throughout. No heat build up , fast scans, optional 1,3,5,9 day epg.takes about fifteen minutes to load 1200 channels on nine days.Picture quality is the best non HD unit I have tested.Has a search feature that you can type in , unlike most where you have to pick a category although it has that option as well.Stores 8 seperate favorites with a 50 channel max so you could store 400 if you choose.Running on bins is trouble free with no issues.
Dongle / IKS -This was tested on the 5-08-08 ecm and was up on most all including ppv from the start.Within about 24 hours it was reported all up and hasn't missed one beat since. The dongle setup is simple a guide is also available here for this.it is three pages long and takes about 10 minutes tops. The iks has very small issues at times.1. it does sometimes pause for about a second but never more than about three seconds.2. sometimes it forgets the signal for the internet connection overnight , easy fix either power it down and wait for a couple of minutes or change the settings to static in the menu also less than a couple of minutes. The captain also is pre configured to use an 8X1 diseqc and it handles all lnbs.
I prefer it to the nfusion but only time will tell as the nfusion seldom goes down but is harder to setup and has the heat issue and will not tolerate a complicated setup using switches. The neosat is a great unit and well built like the captain but in six months I still don't think it has as many available channels in iks as the captain.I know the captain is up more and you never have to ask is it up on cardless , iks etc.You just hook it up and enjoy.I do like the hybrid idea for neosat and when they get it working it should be great. In reality you can go from bin to iks on the captain in less than five minutes.I would read alot of neosat posts before I made a decision and to be fair I have never tested an ipro. I read alot of posts from people who do.
The only thing I had against the captain was their past history about support. They have always been known for a well built machine but sometimes the support was lacking.Well only time will tell but Team Captain has reported those days are behind them and support will be an utmost priority. For the past few months they have been true to their words. The 7100USB / dongle has to date been the best purchase I have made for the money. I would buy this unit again without a doubt.
