I guess it's hard to be patient. The Captain team seem to be among the later ones to come out with support and newer files. In over a month, I was up and running a total of about 5 days.
Trying to hope for the best...

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
Captain have good product, but the coders for this unit leave much to be desired.
It might be time to ditch your units and get a unit that has a more responsive team looking after your interests.
Perhaps, Viewsat (but not Xtreme) or Sonicview (i.e., the SV4000) or even an nfusion, if uptime is something you find appealing

i hope not.their units rock!
if they can step up their support they could be huge.
the 7100 going for about 119$ for example is worth i think around 170 or so,whatever the viewsat ultra goes for.its a sweet system.
but support is key.

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
I love my 8000 HD, but if they want to sell more boxes they must supply better support. Go Captain Coders Go

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
A friend from work sold me one for $80.00 then sold his other two. I can see why. on top of that i have two Magnum 3300's. Those are even worse. They've been running on manual key changes for a a month!

update from Team Captain
We are currently working as hard as we can to produce a stable fix. Although most of these fixes will be short lived (which applies for all FTA STBs out there) we have been holding out to produce a more stable fix for our box. We just want everyone to know we are working on it and we will update you all once we have something stable to release; which shouldn’t be too long from now
Thank you all for your continued support
Team Captain
Cheers H

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
I hope what you guys "THE CAPTAIN TEAM" are saying is true and not another excuse. We can wait but as long as we know that support is on the way. No doubt the receiver is good but the support we get is frustrating and we feel like left out from the race. I hope we can get a better result soon.

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
Feedback for the "Team Captain" and for "those who only stand and wait".
As a software product manager in product support there is nothing more frustrating for the team who is trying to develop the next release, than to not hit the milestones. They know that no matter how good they are, the customers are falling off at a rate that accelerates as the days and weeks go on.
This must be traded off with an acceptable number of bugs and annoyances that still remain as they sweat out the final build.
My job is often to break the news that the release is late... and it is not a pleasant place to sit.
Regular and daily updates will be key to keeping the Captain owners from jumping ship. Trust is easy to lose and much harder to get back.
Quantifying "...shouldn't be too long." will also be key to keeping and gaining more customers.
Software developers are known for wide variances in these types of soft measurements ( as are many engineers).
Creating a cadence for software releases with high predictability is very important.
I don't mind telling a someone that I love this STB, and yes, I am willing to wait an extra 4 days from the Pansat release, because I know it is always an extra 4 days.
It is far more difficult if it varies wildly, and no information is forthcoming, or is just plan wrong or misleading.
Do I as a consumer want to wait? You bet I don't. And don't want to think that I picked a loser either. As long as Captain is not the absolute last each and every time, and with no precipitable release cadence, I can make a good decision to stay or to leave.
So good luck Team Captain - and keep us posted, because we are waiting patiently ( and this being the weekend is hard for both sides!)

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
Although Captain fixes are later, we must appreciate the hard work being done to get the receivers back up and running.
Good Luck Team Captain!

Re: captain team...where are you guys????
If Team Captian comes out with a stable fix that perhaps stays up while others go down this will be worth it and could be the defining moment for Captain to make a bigger name for themselves in the marketplace. In the meantime no one likes waiting but hopefully we can get smoething sooner or later.
