Need Help with Captain
After loading the latest file, my receiver worked for a couple of hours. I turned it off, and turned it back on an hour later. The remote does not work correctly, except for the menu button which brings up wallpaper but no menu. The "ok" button changes channels up, the up button works sometime correctly and sometimes not, and I can't get a channel list or epg. When I do a hard reboot (which doesn't help), it sticks in "boot mode " every time. I can not get to the menu to do a factory reset. It may or may not have anything to do with the file, but I am stumped. And yes I have changed batteries in the remote and double checked the function button. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

load the file again using the cable/loader.
once restored,do a factory default, follow wizard, and perform the one button setup.
report your findings.
oh,yeah.don't forget there is a boot fix file.
sorry,forgot this.iv never needed that.
i had my 7100 get stuck in boot, but just a file corrected it.
so if doesn't for you,be sure to try that.

Re: Need Help with Captain
c/p:
After the reset I lost my HDMI setting. It went to 480i so I could not see any menu on my tv. Set back to 720P with the STEP button. Got menu back.. Just have to load file and see if it works. I have not had HD for months now.

Re: Need Help with Captain
Arboristman,
Timely post I just had a similar problem and just reloaded the file and got back control of my EPG.
But I'm still having pic problems with my 8000 the "Reds" are missing. Everything is Green coloured on my TV screen.
I have the STB hooked up via composite(RBG) to my brand new LCD(I have tested out the TV's composite inputs with my DVD player and it works fine...nice colour). When I connect my STB via component jacks the colour is fine, I can even see the Red come alive on the 'Auto Scan' button on the 8000's guide.
Right now that 'Auto scan' button is green/mustard yellow colour when connected via composite jacks.
Any ideas how this can be fixed, I would perfer to view TV via my composite hook-up instead of the component.
Turns out my Composite cables are toast, the RED is not transmitting a signal.

Reason: Found the problem.
