4 mpeg standard def
over the last few weeks dn has made quite a few channel changes while creating their "eastern arc." one thing jumped out at me one morning while [COLOR=blue ! important][COLOR=blue ! important]reading[/color][/color] some changes. the sd(standard def) locals and international channels were in 4 mpeg instead of 2 mpeg. i thought about this for while then decided to do some experimenting. i scanned 61.5 on my icon and picked up about 102 channels, mostly foriegn and dish info channels. not bad i thought. then i scanned it with my 9000 and picked 351 channels. that's right i picked up 249 channels more, alot of them were hd channels but about 60 of them were locals and international channels in sd but 4 mpeg.because the 9000 can handle 4 mpeg it picked them up and made them viewable, while non hd boxes may pick them up you can't view them. this might explain why some people have channels that autoroll while other channels work. i can't say i know what's going on but i thought this was kind of interesting.
