Re: Simple FTA process and keys explained here.
Hi grasshopper. I'm sorry I'm still confused about "keys" and "bin files". I just purchased Sonicview SV4000 and am setting it up. Now going back to "keys" and "bin".
1) Are "keys" the same for all brands of FTA's? 2) Do I need to enter these key's to my new SV4000? 3) Do I need them both if the channels are scrambled periodically by sat providers? 4) Which one I need to watch for? I've been trying to set this up for about 1 week now but not smoothly like it keeps displaying "please wait for update" every time I change channels. Pardon me if I sound very desperate, but I am, because I thought that it is just plug and watch.
I've been doing a lot of "search" here but it is long long and almost like endless process.
My setup: 2 dishes ( 1 for 110W and 1 for 119W) with DP dual LNB's all cables connected to a powered SW64. So how do I set the settings in the SV4000?
Thank you very much.

Re: Simple FTA process and keys explained here.
Hi everyone, I have a digivawe7000, I was wondering if I could still enter new keys in this old receiver and watch Vu channels? And where can I get them as my keys are set of 32 digits and letters (not 64).

Re: Simple FTA process and keys explained here.
Okay. I'm looking to purchase the equipment necessary to use keys - the equipment should be the easiest to set up, use, upload to, etc. I have an "old" Sony 36" XBR which has component HD and DVI connections and I have a regular TV.
I have a 2m ChannelMaster dish I was using for DN until I ran 'em off for jackin' prices all the time, so I guess it's aimed properly. Two cables run to the house from a DSS LNB, BSNA5-218A to a Microyal model 3104, 4-way satellite multi switch then to the TV's. If any of this equipment needs to be tossed, fine.
What should I buy?

Re: Simple FTA process and keys explained here.
I should also mention, perhaps, that I have a Windows XP PC driving the Sony TV with component HD from Blu-ray disks and downloads. Put some hot tamale video card in it and it rocks, although in 16:9 mode only (set is a beautiful 4:3 unit).
Thanks

Re: Simple FTA process and keys explained here.
So Grasshopper, from your explaination of how the systems work, I must switch from a DirectV Dish to a Dish Network Dish. Correct? But isn't the code in the receiver box w/ the Card and not the dish? If I run the coax from the DirectV dish straight to the Sonicview SV-360 Elite PVR Box, shouldn't it be able to receive channels? It does show signal strength on multiple satellites. Yes, it's my 1st night of trying to hook up the system. I would appreciate any & all help. Thank you.

BTW...I gave U the simple version..its is a failry simple process, but many and any little small detail, can cause problems..but its NOT a rocket science for the "end user" and FTA owner...MUCH initial reading and continous weekly reading is required as new keys and bins are frequent...IMO, the hardest part is aiming/aligning the dish and running the cables to the receiver..

I am new, and still learning. what is the difference between "Keys" and "bin files"? And, where do I find each of these? I have a new, not set up yet...(but working on it. Just want to make sure I don't make any mistakes, because the instruction manual that came with it is poorly written and lots of errors.LOL)....Sonicview SV360 Premier.
Your information has already helped me with other items, and I do appreciate it.
