For those confused about keys...

I often see new folks post wondering why they can't get channels, when they just recently entered the keys.
This is mainly for those who, for whatever reason, haven't, or maybe can't, upgrade at this time, and so must manually enter keys. Sometimes folks have computer issues or other reasons not to update right away.

Here's what's happening:
Keys can be changed at any time. This is called "rolling the keys". It may happen every hour or so at times, or it may go weeks without a roll. It's something the satellite networks do, the timing is completely erratic and unpredictable.

When you think the keys have rolled, go to the "Keys" section of this forum and click the section titled "New Keys" http://www.abadss.com/forum/281-new-...tml#post145146 If the new keys have been posted, that's where they are. No need to post asking what they are. If they aren't there yet, asking will not make them appear faster. They get posted when they get posted. Remember, the folks posting them are under no obligation to provide this info, they are doing us a FAVOR. So be patient, don't get upset, they will appear when somebody has a chance to post them. Usually Carlos, (Thanks, Carlos!) sometimes somebody else. They usually get posted pretty quick, just once in a while there's a long delay. People who post keys have lives, too. Be patient.

Meanwhile, double check that your keys are correct. Sometimes, if your auto-roll is "on", 1 digit (or 2) will change to a wrong one. Perhaps you have had this happen, so that your keys just need that one digit re-entered. Turn your autoroll "off", so it doesn't keep reverting back, then correct the wrong digit, save, and exit. If that was the problem, you should be watching TV again. If not, wait for the new keys, or check other sites for them. (I hope it's ok to say that.)

Another thing I see a lot is people asking for keys for their STB. Folks, the keys are for providers, such as Dish, BEV, Globecast, etc. Not brands/models of receivers. The keys are the same for all brands/models.
