Phoenix
Just started to set up a new box and really cofused. Internet DHCP does not have any addressses. will not change from DHCP to STATIC for manual entry and I don't know the IP or Dns to connect to the IKS server. Tried todownload new extracted bin with the extracted loader file and that did not work either. Tried to follow the set up guide but with above problems that was impossible I would be most grateful for any help.

Hello Rubbie,
Im sure we will figure it out, their are many helpful people here at ABA, so no worries. OK, it should be on DHCP not static. Do you have your high speed internet cable connected? And is this hooked up to a router? Tell us your setup.

Re: Phoenix
Technically you should be able to load "factory bin" then load "153.0 bin". If you've done this, then its a settings issue.

I believe the factory bin was in the stb when I bought it. What settings can I change or make. As I stated I downloaded both loader and latest bin files, unzipped them and tried to download the bin but it did not work. I tried all the Comports also. I assume that without the current bin nothing works.

Re: Phoenix
when you load the file, what happens. YOu should be doing this.....
1. Plug in power but leave unit off via rear switch.
2. Open loader software, should have "boot" highlighted not "main"
3. (with unit still off) Load factory bin
4. turn on unit(via rear switch) program will start to load, let it sit untill it says good(usually take about 3-8 seconds after 100%)
5. turn off unit via rear switch
6. (still in "boot" mode) load 153.0 bin
7. turn unit on via rear switch, program will start to load, let it sit untill it says good(usually take about 3-8 seconds after 100%)
8. connect to internet and tv.
Is this what your doing....if yes and still not working
What does the box say when you try to load?

Thanks for the info. I tried to load like that thru the null cable. The box said Com port 1 error so I kept changing the port but each time I got the same message. However it did say the program was downloaded. When I checked for s/w it showed the factory bin.

Re: Phoenix
yahoodsl - I would like to correct your proceedure.
Ist. thing to remember is a new receiver comes loaded with the Factory file and the Boot file. So you do not need to load the Factory file. You only need to load the latest Bin file.
Next, the Bin file is loaded as Main and not Boot on the Loader.
The receiver has to be ON and when you click on Start, you need to switch it OFF and then ON for the download to commence.
When it reaches 100% it will first say uPda and then good and then it will reboot. You need to wait till it shows 0000 on the receiver panel before you switch the receiver OFF.
Anything short of this will give you problems.

Re: Phoenix
Thanks for the update VG, I said to reload because rubbie said that she tried to load and it was saying something wierd/wrong. I didnt know if the factory bin had been changed or messed up by this load attempt. So, i figured it was no big deal to just reload the factory bin just incase.....quick extra step.....but when I load i dont have mine on first, no big deal. But your right about the main instead of boot. Thankx

I need a IP address since the DHCP list was all zero, and when I try to change to static it will not change, so I cannot install manually.

Alright my friend, I am hooked to TV and to the internet via my linksys router. Lights indicate good connection. My desktop is not in the same room so you will have to give me time to run back and forth and I am 78 so I don't run fast. Do we stay on this page to chat?

Re: Phoenix
and your sure that when you unziped the file, that you actually unzipped it......some times people try to load the zipped file, some people try to install the file through the winzip viewer, and dont actually unzip the file.
