Which Receiver is working now(Mean having Channels UP and running) in Toronto?
Hello
I am new to this forum, to be frank, very new to this concept of FTA and Satellite Channels. Could sombody guide me on which receiver is working. I read in some forums that the Nfusion receivers are working because it is based on IKS. May I know what is IKS and what is the concept of that. One person in GTA (Greater Toronto) told me that the receiver which he installs is connected to internet hence it will automatically correct itself in case of down time. If we connect it to internet, cant it be tracked and blocked thru our Receiver MAC address?
Any clarifications and help in this regard would be appreciable.
Thank you

the stb you are describing is iks .,., it needs to be connected to the internet to work.,., nFusion .,., Kbox.,., Neosat .,.,and SonicView are the top 4 iks stb's,.,.,if DN and Bev is what you're after then one of those 4 you'll need.,.,.,if trueFTA is what you want then that a whole different subject.

Welcome...You may want to spend some time looking through the posted reviews. They will help you decide on which way to go. IKS through a Dongle or Ihub is fairly new. You can also wait for the codes to break N3. However....Nfusion and Sonicview elite are my choices; and may work well for you...Take your time..Cheers

Re: Which Receiver is working now(Mean having Channels UP and running) in Toronto?
singerland and a dishnet work box you got all station wide open all of them
also second place is kbox they got most station.
I have a nfusion and a sonview right now, nfusion is more stable than the sonicview and you don,t need a ihub with the nfusion. My next 2 boxes are the one i told you about up top. I getting them next.

Re: Which Receiver is working now(Mean having Channels UP and running) in Toronto?
Hi All
Thank you for all your suggestions...
Could you please let me know what channels are up now? Down time means, will all the Channels go down at once or few up and few down.
Also could somebody point me to some link where I can read about IKS and how it works???
Please Advice
Thank you

Re: Which Receiver is working now(Mean having Channels UP and running) in Toronto?
Hi Creative Genius
Excellant posts which explain the IKS and ICS setups. So what channels are open and what are not depends of the person administering the IKS server? Does this IKS server maintained by say Nfusion or SonicView (who sells this receivers)? And where does our IP get stored? Is it on the IKS server or the Broadcaster server? I assume it to be on the IKS server. If it is on the IKS server, how can somebody like the DN or BEV get access to those IPs? That part is not clear. If there is any clairification in this regard, that would be excellant.
Thank you once again Guys....

A lot of the questions you are asking, simply are unknown. The nFusion units continue to be very popular.

Re: Which Receiver is working now(Mean having Channels UP and running) in Toronto?
you can google it , It goes to the dishnetwork box to give you all the station, it the only one that get all the station . It wide open
http://www.abadss.com/forum/964-fta-...-slingers.html
http://www.abadss.com/forum/99-gener...nger-irks.html
c/p
All this is right..
theres a few type of testers out there,,one is fta,as to were one applies a fix and watches tv
then theres plastic testers,in the form of cards, avr, atmega, ect, ect
fta is easy and requires little research and reading,
on the other hand, plastic is not so easy to learn, one must have jtag, provider receivers, cards, iso programmers,unlooper/unlockers,plastic is not imposible, but requires more time and research
as to were fta based IKS is simple, such as nfusion
the slinger is more for people that like to test plastic,it uses the provider receiver, after one jtags and gets BOX KEYS ,ect, ect, its not plug n play like say nfusion, but,, slinger in a provider receiver,is hands down better then any fta receiver,as far as pic, guide, ect, ect
the slinger involves a little reading and testing to get it up,,but in my opinion, the better of the IKS systems
to answer the question to no port,i wouldnt think one would want to test a sub ird,or receiver thats in use as a sub receiver, would be better to have a extra receiver to test with, just my opinion...,as u need to JTAG the receiver for the slinger

Re: Which Receiver is working now(Mean having Channels UP and running) in Toronto?
The slinger is a totally different animal. It allows one with a SUB unit to share the signal. These only work with SUB units, NOT FTA units.

you need a dishnetwork box you can get them cheap on ebay or swap shop, or a yard sale.
