Re: How to get EPG Program Guide for 7 days On a CS6K and 4 Days on A CS5K (BEV too)

CSMREM,

You should have explained why the channels you listed work for EPG updating. You Referenced the proper channels, but you did not inform anyone why these channels should be used...

Let us take for instance satellite 119W ES7 for DN. If you pull up the entire list of channels for this sat on Lyngsat, and scroll down through the entire list, quite a ways.... You will find on TP 12.472 L (TP18) that all the channels you have listed are on this TP. Along with channel 5814 and an E-EPG channel.

The DN channels you listed work as E-EPG "carriers" since they are on the same TP as that EEPG channel.

The same goes for any satellite provider. However, they may not have an Extended-EPG signal (E-EPG), they may only have a simple EPG signal. The EPG and E-EPG are quite different.

The EPG might only obtain one or two days of program information at maximum. DN has several EPG channels, but only ONE E-EPG channel. The E-EPG channel is located on sat 119W, TP 12472 L (or H polarity on a coolsat).

The E-EPG might get you three to five days of program information. If anyone says that you get seven or nine days of E-EPG, they are blowing smoke in your tuba! 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 days is maximum for the Coolsat 5K.

The 6100 and 7100 models are better at this. They may go out a full seven days, but I cannot confirm this and I don't know how steady or repeatable it is.

Just some guy out fishin' at the river
