Adding 2nd reciever to a Slimline 5lnb dish

Hello everyone, i'm new to this forum and i'm looking for some answers to a self install question that i'm sure you can help with!

I currently have a DTV Slimline 5lnb dish (4 output model). The reciever I have is the H20 (non dvr hd reciever).

When I had my system upgraded about 1 year ago to HD free of charge by DTV I screwed up slightly. I only ordered one reciever hookup and now I am looking to supply a signal to a second Standard Definition TV in my bedroom. Problem is since I only had them install 1 reciever, they only ran 1 line from the dish in the backyard!

The installer left me keep the 10 year old reciever I intially got from DTV, Model #DRD420RRE! And since it is just laying around I thought why not use it if I can!

My first question......
Will this old reciever work with the new dish????? It will be used to feed a SD signal to a SD TV. I know I will need to call DTV to activate the old reciever I just don't want them to send someone out to set it up....it seems easy enough to do!

My second question.......
Will I need to buy anything (splitters ect...) to recieve the second signal to my bedroom?

I noticed the 5 LNB dish that I have has 4 outputs coming off it but only one have a coaxle wire running from it to the house. If I buy some wire and run it off one of the other 3 non-used dish outputs will I get a signal to feed the second tv???

I can't believe it will be this simple but I thought I would ask!!

Any info and asistance you could give would be much appreciated!

Re: Adding 2nd reciever to a Slimline 5lnb dish

yes you can just run a coax cable from the lnb to your receiver
this receiver should work just fine
should not need any splitters since the lnb is equipped to handle up to 4 receivers
