Will L.A Spot beams work in Montreal, Canada?
I'm about to share an accoutn with an ameri-friend, before I take the plunge, is there anyway to know if His L.A locals will work from my location in Montreal?
I would hate setting this all up to find out I have no ABC, FOX, CBS, NBC, those channels are the reason I want the Sub, I want those Network shows in HD.
IF you can please confirm, it would be very much appreciated.

Locals are typically broadcast on a very narrow (tight) beam ... they are designed to operate for a 'local' audience only.
There are some Spot Beam maps in the Dish Pointing forum you may want to have a look at.

No problem, yu'll get the networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) from LA because they are send nationwide, you'll not get the other locals channels . Have you consider Starchoice forthose channels?, they have a CAD$20 digital basic package that they offer both east and west cost HD for ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX plus other canadians channels

Re: Will L.A Spot beams work in Montreal, Canada?
Sorry, another question. It seems as though I may have to do the account sharing from new York as my friend from LA backed out. Will all the locals from New York reach me in Montreal? and does it have to be somewhere specific in NY or can it be anywhere in the whole state in which my account is tied to by address.

That has a far greater chance of success.

Re: Will L.A Spot beams work in Montreal, Canada?
Thank you, and do you guys have any advice to give on signing uo for the service.
I'm in Montreal, I know I will have to purchase my receivers from ebay which is the risky part because if I screw up Im stuck with receivers.
So my friend has a condo and I'm assuming they will ask him why someone in a condo would need 5 receivers, so I was thinking of telling him to sign up with the condo address but not mentioning the condo unit.
I've heard they accept Canadian credit cards, can my friend use his name and just give my credit card # without my name? does that work?
Is there any infromation they will ask him about the receivers, or it is just model and serial # and that's it?
After 2 years of service will I own the receivers or will they remain on lease? I had tried going through a broker but I didn't because the local city they were in did not have CBS HD, but they said after 2 years I wouldnt have to return the receievr anymore, they actually called it a grey area, but it has me worried, they have my credit card # and let's say I cancelled in 2-3 years, I wouldnt want to get a huge charge for 5 leasesd receivers.
Any feedback appreciated, thanks so much!
