Question Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?

Hi All, I was wondering if I am able to use the Direct TV dish that is left over from my old service with an FTA receiver to bring in signal? It appears that I cannot tune into Direct TV service, but can the dish and multiple LNB be used for dish, bev and other stats? Also what beginner receiver should I use with it?

Thanks,
Mookiex4

If its a single lnb from direct it will work but for the 3 or 5 lnb type you will get a few channels but not much more. You're better off with a DN twin lnb.

Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?

The reason the dual lnb's won't work is that the old direct dish is perfectly round and the dish pro dish is slightly ovaled. the dual can't get a good focus because the shape was made to focus directly in the center of the round one where as the oval shave can focus to both lnb's

Re: Re: Can I use a Direct TV Dish with my FTA Receiver?

Thanks for all of the great responses. I was asking only because I was looking on the FTA list website and the only Direct TV dish that it lists for use if the 18 x 20 oval Direct TV dish with the triple LNB, which happens to be the one that I have mounted on the house from my previous service.

Thanks again for the great responses. By the way, What is the "BEV" satellite? It seems to be as popular as Dish for some reason? Thanks fro all of your help and comments.
